I am a little unhappy with the location of the terminus of the running-board heat-exchangers (where they connect to the rear heat-exchanger) on my RX-1M. It is too far forward, I often step in that area.

I was looking at some of the aftermarket tunnels and the Apex and I like the idea of having the running-board heat-exchanger hoses pass through the tunnel farther back. The Apex puts these connections way at the rear of the tunnel, leaving plenty more room for standing on the boards.

Has anyone tried extending the running-board heat-exchangers or replacing them with longer ones or some other way of freeing up that area of the boards for standing?

same thing here, i'm listening too.

This is how I upped my cooling capacity. I took another heat exchanger and cut it into three pieces and had one welded on each side . Then I took the last piece and ran it across the back and plumbed it in with copper tubing. It took a bit of fabricating but the heating problems went away and it also gave me another foot of room on the running board, Ken.

givemeaboost,

Thank you for the input, that is a slick sled and an excellent approach. I will propose your approach to a couple of radiator shops - bringing them a new exchanger to cut up and graft to the old ones - and see how they react. Some welding shops get wierd about anything out of the ordinary and others get excited to try something new.

I am also considering leaving the cooling system alone and widening the boards enough so I can stand next to the existing hose, such as Trxster's approach....
