We got some fresh snow here and I did not even make it a mile accross the lake before the filters packed with snowdust. The sent the sled into a very rich condition. Sled would not even pull 9,000 RPM. Ordered the pre-filters yesterday. Just a heads up. Has anyone found that the prefilters hinder the air flow at all. I am wondering if I will need lean the jetting a little.

I ran them for 350 miles in very dusty conditions and they worked perfectly.

RX Buck - If I remember... they should restrict air flow by about 1 percent or so. But my memory.....??? I've got a blue RX-1 that I know and I ordered the kit with snow filters added.

Guys,
I was at ECP today to get my set of filters from Freddie. He showed me the results of many dyno runs starting with a stock machine and adding his suggested mods one at a time. After he got the best results he did another run with the prefilters and the dyno results show very little change. Keep in mind that these runs were in a warm shop, the results would have been different if the prefilters started to load up with snow.
The dyno does not lie, Freddies kit reallys smooths out the problem areas in the torque curve!

Mighty, I am not talking dusty conditions, I have about 700 miles on these filters without the pre-filters. They worked great until we got 14" of fresh powder, when you get in those conditions you will have a problem. It is worth the 40 bucks to make sure when those fun conditions arrive that you will be able to enjoy them.

The conditions were extreme enough that snow was piling up on the rubber flap that goes over the carbs.

In deep powder conditions my pre filters iced up!The solution was to put a filter behind the hood vents to limit the snow getting under there.Who cares if the hood vents get plugged? The coarse foam they sell for pond filters works great.I cut a piece to fit behind the bracket on the underside of the hood secure with one zip tie thru the foam and around the bracket.I can't understand why these machines don't come with removeable block-off plates on the hood like all the other machines i've had....
