temp creeped up to 200 and yellow triangle came on. decent snow but a little warm 32 deg. i do have the heat exchangers under the foot rails. i have not installed ice scratchers yet. how do they make a machine that cant cool itself? do i really need a rear heat exchanger? looks like a pain to install and more money. whats with this thing? and yes coolant is 50/50

Redline WaterWetter helps a little bit. Or other manufacturers equivalent as available in your area.

Scratchers will do the trick!!

These 4 strokes seem to vary depending who you ask, some people say they never see the light and others say it's a constant problem. With conditions varying from good, to icy, to wet snow, to hardpack, to, you stop to shoot the $hit for a minute with your buddy and you leave the machine idling, I say you need all the help you can get. If you plan on keeping the sled, get yourself some scratchers and get the rear cooler if you can find one, it's a fairly easy install.

Test your coolant. Many 06-07 models were delivered with straight glycol. Get it properly diluted and I'll bet your issue goes away.

What Dave Said. X2

op said in his post that he did change the coolant to 50/50 mix. my 05 rx always ran warm even with the coolant change and the extra cooler but the rx sleds never had the rad with the fan by the chaincase. i always load up the running boards with snow when i feel that it is running hot as i cannot stand hot feet while riding.

Sorry, I missed that a Maim. Check the fuse for the fan, and the relay as well. I had my relay stick on AND off. They will also create an ice dam in the front of the tunnel and that doesn't allow the front exchanger to get any snow on it. Last resort, do the rear exchanger. My 02 Viper overheated from day one and every ride after that until I extended to 136 with longer footboard exchangers AND a rear exchanger. After that, I could run down a bare road !

My wife's will overheat from time to time. Has the rear cooler. Drop a scratcher and good to go.

I've installed the rear exchanger on mine. Before installing it I have had the yellow light come on while pulling the kids around on snow tubes.
This past weekend I did a little 120mile trip. Conditions less than ideal. Very warm ( just below freezing), minimal snow coverage and lots of lake running. The one stop we did had us driving around and thru a small city which took at least 15 mins of slow driving on the side streets. Never saw the light come on. Others were complaining about their sleds getting hot. Sidewinder riders complained the most.

well have the manual fan switch also. 50/50 coolant. fuse is good or the manual switch wouldnt work so. next time ill swap over my ice scratchers from my doo and see what happens. just frustrating that stock even w the side coolers this thing runs hot. wonder how they ran off the showroom? thats what i dont get. but yea next time ill try scratchers.
