ok it its like minus 3 celius today and if this sidewinder idles on the trail litterally for more than 5 minutes it goes to over heat mode and shows 220 degrees , whats with that ? anybody else notice this

5 mins? Ya that's normal. Dont idle it like that. Shut it down. These turbos are designed to be shut down right away.

If the trails are hard packed you need to run scratchers. With them down I was running 170 all day long and could let it idle for a while when stopped. With them up I was running in the mid 190s and it would heat up quick when I stopped. I still don't know why they didn't bother trying to fit a rad and fan in there. My turbo viper could sit there and idle indefinitely.

Yamaha usually runs a straight blend of antifreeze ,I would try to drain some of the fluid, add some purified water ,usually 75% AF,25 % water mix.Straight antifreeze retains the heat longer, the water mix will disperse the heat and allow better flow rate, also remember to let system purge and refill if needed. My new Apex and a few other new sleds I had had same symptom until I did the service and never had any issue ever after that, even in low snow conditions.Give it a shot,it worked for me.

I myself never ran ice scratchers ,never needed them after reformulating my coolant mixture to 25% mineral water,Dura flex cable ice scratchers would be my choice if I ever decide to use them.Best advice ask the Ski Doo guys what they run, most of them always seem to have a overheating issue, they might have some better preferences.

Any Ice-scratcher suggestions? Pics if possible

Straightline performance makes a really nice set of scratchers

Those didn't work for me. They kept loosening up no matter what i did. After a while they would just move up off the ground

I've always run the cable type scratchers. Seen too many of the old style destroyed backing up. The duraflex ones are what my whole group has been running for years. I always have them because we run glare ice a lot.

I haven't used the SLP ones but the duraflex ones have a knurled back on the mount then I red loctite the bolt. Never had one come loose. They do always hook themselves back up on the rails once you go over 100 mph though. Lol.

This has been my concern from day one. I have a small radiator and fan set up I plan to do some Testing with this winter.

I had the same idea but I haven't had time to really figure out how their convection cooling system works. When you shut it down it uses convection to keep coolant moving through the turbo. You can hear it if you listen carefully when you stop. I wouldn't want to mess that up.
