I was wandering what gains could be made my simply porting the heads on the R-1 motor!!
I have had years of experience with porting Small block and big block Chevy heads!! and Have a friend who has a Flow bench (hes not a close friend) My Dart heads flow 280cfm at 28in on the intake and 205cfm on the exhaust! which if you dont know IS ALOT!! at only .500 lift
Usually when i see a 4 valve head (like a turbo eclipse head) they ususally already have a great amount of material removed and already have nice blended bowls , a very nice short turn radius and very little rought casting and do not really need any further porting, that this makes we wander what could be gained from porting the 5 valve head of the rx-1 , granted i am not sure how much the head flows in comparison to the amount of valve lift the stock cams has but i would bet the heads already outflow the cam!!
I would think there would be more to be gained by milling the head or installing a thinner head gasket to bump up the compression (more HP and torque)
Maybe next year i will attemp this myself We will see!!
What do you all think? :?: :?:

I remember in the spring someone for Quebec had his head done, can't remember who it was, but he claimed it was stronger.
My question is what are the differences between the r1 and rx1 cam specs. It may not be to hard to find used stock bike cams, if they made anymore power.

The cams are the same as the late R1. I have a late R1 head for comparison, the exhaust port on the sled head has a better shape than the R1's.

Now that the cams are the same. why does the bike make the peak h.p. at a higher rpm? Some where around 11000 I think.

The reason the bike makes it at a highter rpm could be the cam timing and the efi settings!!! Maybe the cams are set retarded to make it have a higher peak rpm!! ALso the efi breaths better!!
