I have used this site as a guest for a long time and figured it was time to atleast give a little back...My favorite sled had been my 98 SRX untill this winter, it always put a smile on my face...hands hurt from holding on and checks hurt from smiling. My 2003 RX-1 has taken over that spot..it now has 3800+ miles on it. Stock, I have to be honest, I was a little disapointed. It has a Maxxperf exhaust, 137.5 mains, needles up 1 slot and a modded mounting plate for the electronics in front of the airbox input (moved 1/2 inch down out of the way), removed beverage holders, Klotz 4stroke oil. I also had to do some clutch work and suspension tuning. She is sweet now, my only issue is I keep ratcheting the track. Is this because the track is so soft it keeps stretching?

After the first time I tightened my 03 the ratcheting never returned. Make sure yours is tight enough.

Use the stock drivers for frisbees. Install extroverts and you'll never slip the drive again, plus you can run the track much looser and this results in more power to the ground.

Reducing the approach angle through skid relocation seems to do a great job of eliminating ratcheting. Even with a 144", mine hasn't skipped once.

1700mi on last year and I had to tighten the track constently! This year I just had to tighten it for the first time last week at 2800mi. If I don't get an 05, then the 03 is finally getting a new track!

I can't say that I ever had an issue with ratcheting with the stock track but after I replaced it with the a 9818 camo, I also installed the 4th wheel kit since I knew I would be studding. I realize it was not needed but with me only studding down the center (144 1.325 mega bites), I wanted to be sure the track wasn't going to ballon and cause tunnel damage. Once the new track was on, I set the deflection to Yamaha specs. I also replace my sliders since the skid was out. First time out, I had my sliders melt to my track; first time I ever had that happen to me. After the ride, the new track stecthed but after reading on this forum of guys running their track with 1" sag, I left the deflection alone. Went riding several times after that to see how the looser track would perform and felt the looser track was the way to go; not one sign of track ratcheting and the hookup was awesome. I even added a clutch kit and ECP filter kit so I was definitely enjoying the hookup. Well, the other day, I have the sled up on a lift and could not believe the deflection I had. Apparently, the track was still stretching and had every bit of a two inch sag. What I can't believe is that the track never ratcheted; not once. Could the 4th wheel kit do the same as the extroverts in that they allow the track to be ran loose and still not have track ratcheting :?: I ended up tighting the deflection back to 1" sag because I got a little nervous about running the track that loose.

I didn't have to keep tightening my track last year, no mods...I guess the mods are working!!! I know the rubber is very soft on the stock track and was wondering if the drive lugs are of the same hardness?? If so this could be my issue. It only does it now if I spin it @10,500 in the deep snow.

The other thing to remember is the more transfer you have adjusted your control rods for the more ratcheting you get. This might be why some people have problems and others don't.
