What is best on 2003 RX1, dual K&N's filters or a modified airbox (maybe like the one that Ulmer makes) Thats for any help.

i had both and hands down the air box mod is the way to go....with the open filters when i would get in loose powder snow would get under the hood and get on the filters and get wet and run like crap ....i noticed no power differance in either of the two

I also have had the two installed and I agree that the modified air box is the better way to go. I encountered the same problems with the filters in loose snow causing the prefilters to ice up and the sled run like crap. I also never noticed any power difference. The only difference is one iced up the other did not and the airbox is quieter. You can buy a modified air box or you can do your own. I have done my own and it works great for what I do which is lots of open fields.

I modified my airbox but have yet to run it like that. Don't pay anyone do it yourself it's really easy. Search the poster above me he has a good write up on it.

I don't know about the rest of the guy's but another thing to think about is the noise. I have modded air boxes and run K&N and both give a great deal of engine noise. No longer do you have just the drone in the rear at certain rpms the engine noise almost doubles in front of you.

I ride both mine that is modded and the wife's which is stock and there is not much difference at all with noise between the two. The filters yes I noticed it much louder running the filters.
Mine came with the K&N's on it so i can't compare power wise. I don't ride powder so i haven 't had that problem. The noise difference is like turning the top of a aircleaner over on the older cars and trucks. When you give it some you can hear it. I can hear the diff between my buddies stock one and mine.

What cv Spring are most people using with the modded air box. I know the jets should be 170's.
