Hey guys,
I really need some mirrors for my RX-1. Are mirrors available direct from Yamaha, and if so, how much do they cost?
Any of you guys use anything aftermarket for mirrors?
Post some pics if you have any ideas. I would also like to see a pic of the factory RX-1 mirrors (if they exist).
Thanks.

I have the '03-'04 OEM Yamaha mirrors on my '04 RX-1. My dealer mounted them behind the windshield, fairly high on the hood. Unfortunately, if you decide to get handguards, you will have a hard time using the mirrors.

I recommend installing a set of RS Venture mirrors if you really want to be able to see them clearly.

I have, as well as quite a number of other people have these. Std. on the venture, by far the best mirror I have ever had. Around $80 from Port Yamaha 1-866-4YAMAHA
kevin-portyamaha@wi.rr.com or your dealer

I spent a lot of time figuring out what type of mirror to install. I had three options. The standard rx-1 mirror that mounted on the belly of the machine, the original mirrors that mounted behind the windshield, or the venture style mirrors. I selected the original style. Mostly because I didn't want the sled to look like it was too "old manish" The smaller mirrors served their purpose without being a distraction. In retrospect, the venture style mirrors would work much better. My hands can get in the way of the view using this style.

(Just an opion here thats all.)
Funny, I saw the hood mounts as very old style 80s, 90s. The fairing high mount mirrors are like what you would see on a high powered crotch rocket motorcycle. at 6'2 the low ones dont work 1/4 as well for me plus I dont want to look down but forward when I am zooming down a trail.
Everybody has opions on style to be sure, but the high mounted ones work great.

Tork those are costing you at least 8 MPH top end decrease by my calculations. :moon:

Tork, your right, but at the time, it just seemed like the right way to go. With the holes already drilled, they are staying

Thanks for the replys guys! My only concern now is if my "deluxe" cover will fit with the high mirrors. It would be a shame to have an expensive cover that will not fit over the mirrors.

Forgot about that :moon:
Thats why I can nearly match top end with an RX1 with my vector :moon:
And it hurts my MPG too, i only get 17 :moon:

What other stuff do you work on in the summer ATVs?? Motorcycles??

Ah...I ride my sleds in the summer too! Grass drags! We actually have a race in Wausau every year!

Otherwise it's riding a 03 Raptor quad or 04 FZ-1 bike every now & then.

I know, I almost did that too. Those yamaha hood mount are plenty good and big. But by SRXSPECs calculations they cost you 12 MPH on top end :D

Just clowning Allen, it is my down fall :drink:

Know about the racing, does the shop slow down??
Wausau is close enough, I'll have to try and be there :D

the RX-1 mirriors from Yam are a POS....either go with the Venture mirrors or go with a set from Royal Distributing and mount them in the same spot........i bought the RX-1 mirrors and i hate them....i will be getting a set from Royal for next season...the view will be less clear than the Venture mirrors but i only want to see headlights so they are a good compromise...half the price too

The cover will fit, the mirrors have pivots at the base. They fold in pretty tight :D

Shop slows down a little, but once the new models start showing up at dealers it'll be time to start working on new clutch kits again as well which makes things very busy again.
