I know the RX-1's are heavy machines etc... but do any of you have any experience with the 94-96 V-max 600's vs an RX-1?

My son and I are going to buy new sleds before Christmas. He currently rides a '95 V-max 600 that is piped, plastic skis, clutched, etc... In short, it's a little screamer.

Thanks to the groups feedback, I am definitely going to buy an RX-1, now leaning hard toward a new '05. He's thinking of a used '03 RX-1.

(see RX, WARRIOR, OR MOUNTAIN
http://www.rx1.info/viewtopic.php?t=7901 )

HERE is the concern. He absolutely does not want to lose any performance from his old sled. It's the fastest in the group that we ride with (of course - the biggest in our group is a Pol 700). He does NOT want to spend the big $$$ on an RX-1 only to be out gunned by his "old" sled.

Will the RX-1 take the Vmax out of the hole? What about top end?

Thanks!
Bob

p.s. On another note, now that I'm ready to buy I posted an ad in the Classifieds:

"HEY DEALERS! I'M READY TO BUY AN RX-1. Talk to me!"
http://www.rx1.info/viewtopic.php?t=7958

And so far, not a SINGLE reply. What's up with that? Do any of you know of a dealer in MN, WI, IA, SD, NE offering great deals on an '05 RX-1?

I had a 94 and can tell you it is not even in the same ballpark, he will be more than pleased.

I don't know of any dealter except for Port Yamaha that frequent this site. I may be wrong. Give Mike at Port Yamaha a call. I do not think you will beat his deals. Tell him Dana sent you.

Compared to his old sled the rx will be a MONSTER..

IT wouldnt even be a race..

Asolutely no comparison. The RX-1 most closely compares with the SRX in terms of speed and weight. The Rx-1 may seem a bit tippy and top heavy to him/you initially but with longer sway bar links and a stiffer sway bar you'll be railing through the corners like a rocket sled on rails! Best of luck. Frosty

The only dissapointment your son will have is if the 03 he buys still has that POS finger track. That is the only way his little 600 could get a jump (momentary I might add) is because that finger track will not hook up on anything other than plain ol grass.

Thanks guys! For my son, of course speed and power are everything (ahhh ... youth).

For me, it's about reliability and the enjoyment (anything over 75mph and I'm white knuckled! lol)

I can't WAIT to get the RX-1's!

Is it unrealistic between now and Christmas to find a new '05 RX-1 for under $8,000?

Thanks!
Bob
"soon to be 4-stroker"

If your looking for a RX1 and not a RX1er yes you can get it, but an er is going to be a couple hundred more, out the door er you can get for about $8600 or there about.

Ok, we're back from the "maiden voyage" of our RX-1's.

That concern about the V-max's in my group out gunning the RX-1? WHAT WAS I THINKING! LOL.

Not even in the same league! ;-)

Low end, mid range, top end, ride, ... name it - the RX-1 ROCKS.

I was leading on a trail that's basically a road bed. We're cruising at 45 or so. I hear a noise and it's my nephew off my right side trying to blow by me on his '96 V-max 600. He was by me by almost 1 sled length before I realized the challenge. I stomped on the RX and in a heartbeat I ate him up. How cool!!!! He didn't have much to say to me but later at the bar he told my son "I tried to pass your Dad but he just BLEW MY DOORS OFF".

He and my brother in law now hope to ditch their V-max's for RX-1's by next year :-)

Rx-1 and 95' V-Max

My sone just got back from Northern Wisc. I have an 05' RX-1 and he has a 95' V-Max 600 that I'd put against any 600 twin, but there is no comparison.......a silly question!

I'll have to chime in here also! I owned and rode for 4 years a 1995 600 V-Max after that a 1999 700 V-Max for 5 years and I now have a 2004 RX Warrior.
The 700 V-Max would clean the 600 V-Max's clock!
The Warrior will obliterate the 700 V-Max LaLaLa

NUFF SAID!!!!

Hey Mighty!

Mighty! What year is your Vmax? I have a custom 92 I'm building over the winter. I'm adding lots of chrome and a Chrome Illusion paint job along with 85 cams, head work and alot of polished aluminum. (the polishing I am doing myself). Keep the shiny side up Mighty! Nice to see another TY guy with a Vmax. Got Boost?...lol
