my sleds track doesn't seem to turn easily? meaning when i pull it out of the garage it doesn't just roll but drags? and i've noticed on other sleds the tracks seem to roll much easier?

it seems worse this year and the only thing i've changed is i've gone to a different belt and i'm wondering if that could be causing a bind? it was also having difficulty shifting into reverse so last night i pulled apart the chain case looking for issues. nothing seemed to be binding only the reverse shift forks needed to move over a bit more and i loosed the tension on the chain a touch.

the track is pretty loose and hangs off the rails 2+ inches when it's raised.

thoughts/comments, i'm thinking i'm loosing hP!

pulled off the belt and the primary clutch, the track spins nice and free..! with out the belt on the track would not spin!

took a look at the belt and the inside teeth have a groove from the sleeve seperator collar and it was banjo strip tight in the primary? my only thought, i've been running with my adjustable shockwave turned all the way down and it's creating huge pressure in the secondary. in looking at the belt prior to removal it was sitting out of the secondary about a 1/4".

plan is to take more weight out of the primary and try running with the shockwave at 1/2 to 3/4. i need all the rpm's i can get

thoughts/comments?

Adjust your secondary

There are three 8mm headed bolts on the back side of you primary when the sled came from the factory they had I believe one washer a piece under those bolts when the belt wears you can take them out, sounds like you have a new belt and you have your washers out causing your belt to be too tight and pull against your primary causing you to have to turn over the engine to get you sled to roll across the garage floor. Put some washers back in there and get it so you belt only rides up about 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch. And you should be fine. Later

OOPS

Thanks Culvert,
I did not even realize I typed that I meant secondary. Freeheelr, sorry for the misinformation just typed it up and posted I should have reread it and then posted. Feel kinda dumb now I am trying to give advice then screw it up, Oops

no worries, i looked through the manual and figures it out. took out the washers and it seemed to help. although i still got groove from my sleeve seperator collaring.

i took 2 grams of weight out of my primary and have been able to turn down the shockwave and still maintain rpms, plus a little more track speed. but i'm still fighting the burbles and a little backfire now and again. the thing is very sensitive to snow ingestion.

this weekend i plan to rejet and play with the needle, i'm pretty sure it's running rich? anyone have a suggestion on sicronizing carbs? i don't have the tool...
