1 version is fully clipped and the other version is clipped every third. Mine is fully clipped, a bit heavier but I'm still on my first set of hyfax on a 162 Cat skid using ice scratchers with over 2000 miles. I'll probably get 3 full seasons out of these stock Cat hyfax.

Yamaha Maverick is fully clipped. I bought mine from Tracks USA 2 years ago and it had the Yamaha bar code and sticker on the wrapper. Camo Mav is clipped every third.

Mike from Vanamburg told me that if you mount the M7 skid in the locations of a king kat that the tension issues go away. Any ideas ?

i went ahead and installed the holts relocation kit prior to running the skid figured i'd heed the warning of others.
do you know the dimensions/ geometry of the king cat??

Free Wheeler, you did the right thing. I agree that if indeed relocating the M7 skid to King cat hole specs would be great if we knew what they were but, there's snow in your forecast and you are going to have to Git'er done!
My riding group went from just Jonnyrocket and myself on RX-1's to the new guy on Aaron's old sled and our other new riding buddy just picked up an 06 Apex Mountain. Yes, at least people around here are coming around to the benefits of four strokes.
Great work

i know it's been a while since i've posted on my progress, well she's put back together...
took a day off elk hunting for the first day out, imagine early season in cooke city no base new snow 34.5" total to be exact. i was sort of dreading the day, that is till we got the sleds off the truck and started up into the hills. i must say if no one else ever has i think my rx1 floats??? although the jetting or clutching is off and she'd only run at 8500-9000 rpms the thing just got around and there was huge potential to get buried big time, step off the sled and your up to your waist. at this point i'm totally impressed. can't wait to get her dialed in
thanks for all the input if anyone has suggestion for setup at 8000-10,000 ft let's hear it. i also did the 05 rx1 clutching.

That's great to hear! I thought you'd be happy.
Going to a 16" wide track on the RX-1 makes a huge difference in floatability. I'm amazed at how difference it makes, much more than doing the math would indicate it should make.
Clutching.............. Order a Shock Wave adjustable helix for the secondary. As you climb you can turn the ring in and gain (or keep) your RPMs right where you want them. I think the naturally aspirated RX-1's use the progressive angle helix and the turbos use a stright angle helix for best results.
It's great to hear all went well.

well i had her out twice over the thanksgiving holiday, cooke city is a snow hole. tagged a few rocks and got commited in a few narly places but the sleds not too much worse for the wear.
i rolled the sled out of a hole and 'kachess' is right again the plastic shroud cracked again and i lost my hi/low beam button? so i might be rethinking windshield/light setup? also seems like i need to realign the skis? ridder error on getting stuck i'm learning this sled its a different beast. when it starts to slow down on the uphill i start looking to pull out but the sled still keeps going and i get my weigh all screwed up. didn't get to take pics having too much fun and the battery died on the camera.
tuning
i took the all the rivets out of the 05 weights and that seemed to make a big difference it held rpms around 9-9200. spoke to outlaw motorsports and they suggest a 19 upper and the shockwave helix, so that'll probably happen this week at least the 19 upper. will the jump from 9200-10,200 make a huge difference in the sleds ability to climb and keep going in the hills and pull harder?
observations
i was riding with a rev 600 and 800 w/nos and rode the new skidoo xp. definitely felt the differences in the sleds the revs get kicked around and are a bit squirely but when they settle in they sure go even the 600. i got to liking the stability of the rx1 it settle into a line and doesn't seem to get kicked out but it definitely's not as quick to turn out. i was able to boondock around in the trees and pull quick climbs in fresh snow but it felt like i needed a bit more room to get her going? not sure if this was the gearing/setup or 4 stroke vs 2 stroke.
anyhow happy turkey day and pray for more snow

nearly forgot how are you guys setting up your m7 suspensions? shock settings, limiter straps, etc. i just put mine in and started riding and it seems to work well not transferring as much as it could i'm sure but these things take a bit of time to figure out
