Hey everyone
I have a 05 RX1 with a 121 Mono skid. I mostly trail ride with some road/field drag racing. I am not a super fast or hard trail rider. When the bumps get big I slow down. We do ride mostly in the U.P. on the trails.
I had the shocks revalved and it does not bottom out any more and rides much better. I am not a big fan of the mono. It rides ok but I can not keep wheels or slides under it. Last year my rails cracked. I had them welded and they are cracked again. I have alse removed my Warm and sand blasted and welded all the cracks.
I have a friend with a 98 SRX with a 136 Viper skid. I think that it would be a Proaction skid. He does not have the quick rods and it does not hook at all, but it seem to ride better than my sled. Also he has a son that he ofter takes two up and the sled never bottoms out. His boy wants to ride with me from time to time and if the bumps are 1 ft of bigger my sled bottoms out.
I know the 136 skid will ride better than a 121, but does a 136 Proaction ride better than I 121 mono or does he just have a good one. I know a Proaction will hook when adjusted with the quick rods. My mono does hook pretty good but I ride with a lot of transfer.
So I am thinking about putting a 136 Proaction under my 05 RX1.
Has any body done this? How much work is it to install?
Does any body think the ride would be that much worse than my mono?
I just know he never has a wheel problem and his slids last a long time. Never looks like he is getting beat up in the bumps.
I guess I could also put a Polaris or Arctic Cat skid under it.
I is a darn shame. The 05 Rx1 is the best sled I have ever had but the skid is really a peace of crap.
Thanks for your advice.
Bruce
