rx1 improvements

The Mono skid was the top upgrade for me, followed by the Apex seat. See the tag line for all the other upgrades.

I had an 03 and an 05 for the last 3 years, Just sold the 05 last year for an Apex GT. I love the 03 too much to let her go. When I first started riding it I was 14 years old and my dad bought it, it was one year old at the time. We rode it stock for many years until I moved to Northern Michigan and took the sled with me, as I started to ride it harder I quickly found out how rough of a ride she was. I'm a bigger guy, 6'2 210 and my hips hurt every morning after I rode. 3 years ago I finally decided to do some upgrades.

Apex seat, 2" handlebar riser, 13mm sway bar with the longer sway bar links, stud boy shaper bar carbides, took a lot of preload off of the front of the sled, and cranked up the preload on the back. I also let the limiter straps all the way out and adjusted the transfer rods for max transfer. That next winter it was like I was on a different sled, no more darting, no more hip pain, I could muscle the sled around instead of the sled muscling me around. I love the sled now, it is so much more fun to ride and I can keep up with just about anyone in the twisty tight trails now. Before I would go into a turn not knowing if it was going to plow through it or lift the inside ski to the point that I thought I was going to roll it. The seat, riser, and sway bar made a world of difference, I went from hating how it rode to loving it. That is why I sold the 05 which was stock and decided to keep the 03. Good Luck! Let it snow!!!

I also forgot that shimming the skies made a huge difference in carbide wear and darting! I made my own shims out of fiberglass board and made them long enough to be able to use a bolt from the carbides to be sure it can't slip out.

I have had 2 03's and 3 05's I did the same thing all of them. The first 03 I installed a bender mono-shock conversion skid the 2nd I bought a mono out of a wrecked 06 apex. All of them had 13 mm sway bars, Ohlin clicker shocks up front and Penske clicker skid shocks from Bender. I ran simmons flex skis on all of them and they handled like a ferarri.

I Had the rear skids beefed up and powder coated and went to wheels with replaceable bearings.
