I have tried this setup from "Snow Fever" on the Totally Yamaha site and it works pretty good...i did leave the helix and gearing stock so far...any input on how to improve on this would be appreciated...would like some more top end if possible...have seen 140-145 km/h (90 mph) with it climbing slowly from there...the secondary is slipping (smells like belt)... i'm going to increase the twist to 6-3 or even 9-1 maybe to hold the belt better...should i try the silver secondary spring?? any other sugestions??
thanks
Chris

Only differance I did was gear is 24-38, with a silver secondary. Iam going to the 9 tooth drivers this season.

24-40 is too much

I'm a non-turbo , i cam from stock 23-40 to 21-40, and i hit 155 km/h. ;)!

23-40 in deep snow load the engine too much. 21-40 is almost a dream to ride vs the 23-40 in the deep.

My friend RX is 22-40 and he said that is even too much. And we are almost Flatlander, with the Laurentide Mountain peeking at 3300 feets. For thight spot, like forest, 21-40 is better for slow riding.

Quick start with 23-40 and 4300 eng. was almost impossible, the sled urge forward, but only for a sec, the when she grab traction she came lazy, and clutch was more hot

:ORC ;)!

thanks

i'm gonna have new today, i really hope that i can make a couple more scratch on her, she's not ready to die. :D

according to totallyamaha.com the stock gearing on an rx1 mtn is 21-40 (1.90 ratio) and a shorty is 24-38 (1.58 ratio), so i already have the 21-40 which should give better low end and less top end than say 24-40 (1.66 ratio)...i'm wondering if there is a better trade off for a bit more top end without hurting low end much? 1.82, 1.77, 1.74 ratio maybe??

if you have reverse and you are between 0 and 3000' you have a 23-40

I rode my sled with 23-40 all winter except april and may, and in deep powder, the ratio is to tall. You will have problem off the line. 1.90 work real fine. A bit high in trail but not enough to lower top speed too much.

Good luck with you choice.

My buddy with 22-40 rode faster than mine at 23-40 and at 21-40 too

that sucks because i bought the sled from a guy in BC (set up for the mountains?), so i guess i'll have to pull it apart to see what the gearing is...pretty sure its stock cause the sled only had 90kms on it when i bought it...
thanks for the help
