I did the apex seat and 2" handle bar riser on my 03 RX1. I absolutly love the better ride position. I need to put a longer throttle cable on now because when I turn the handle bars all the way to the right the engine revs up slightly, scared the crap out of me the first time it did it. I know that I need the mountain cables but don't know which ones. Are they RX1 mountain cables or are they off of another machine. I have a royal distributing catolauge that I want to order them from along with some other parts to make all one order. They don't have RX1 mountain listed, the only mountain cables that they have is the 2005 RS vector mountain. Will these do or will I have to go directly to a yamaha dealer. The reason I am asking it because I live 2 hours away from the nearest dealer.

Use the RX1 Mountain cables, You can order online instead of the 2 hour drive..

Did you attempt to adjust or reroute your cable? Usually that's all that's required.

Yes I did. it is in the shortest possible route. Right at the attachment point at the carb where the casing attaches to, the metal part of the cable is bent (factory bend) if that was straightend it would work. but it is just that much to short

Where can I get them. I just checked with the yamaha dealer and they don't have a listing for that.

I would like to know witch dealer you called, and if they told you that they were just being lazy. I would like to add that I ordered for mine a 2004 mountain cables and they came the same length as my warrior cables, a 2005 mountain got me longer cables however.

It was a local(2hours away) dealer. I got online and found mountain cables for an 03 rx1 for $15. I hope it is the right one. They had cables for an 03 rx1 and 03 rx1 mountain.

The 05mt cable is 2" longer than the 03mt. I put a riser on my 03mt, the 05 cable was under $25. To help you out, yamaha canada has a program on their website that allows you look up parts. Then you have the part number, before the typical unhelpful partperson says cant find it.

Red, thanks for the tip. With the 2" riser I put on, the stock cable is just a bit too short. I tilted my rars a bit forward to what I originaly had them after I installed the riser and they seem to be fine now (no throttle movement when turning) but they don't feel as comfotable this way. All I would need is a few inches to put back to where it is comfortable, so I hope the ones I ordered will work.

Take the cable out of the gold holder that bolts on the stering post and it works with a 2" riser

I built my own 6.75 in riser and rerouted my stock cables and it works fine. Actually I bought what was supposed to be mt. cable from another member and it turned out to be the exact length as my stock one so I just used it.
jim.

Woodchk502, Yeah I can sypathise with you I just got my mt cables in the mail and they are the same length. Now it will be cheaper jusy to keep them instead of sending them back. $%^#&$#@

03/04 part number is 8FA-26311 or 8Ep-26311, 05 is 8FW-26311, these are all from yamaha part finder. All mountain sleds.

Stomper. Sorry to hear that wish I wouldve posted sooner now. I was only out 15$$. Bettin it was more costly for you.
