Hey there guys. Thinking of trading up this year to an attack gt but worried about 1000' performace compared to my RXton. The rx has hh clutch kit, freddies filter kit and velocity rings. and timming advanced 3 degrees. It pulls real strong. What do you think as I have no way to compare them. :rocks:

The Attak will beat you once broken in.

:-o No idea. Just having fun.

I know the Attak is apparently slightly faster than the Apex (no-one I know rides an Attak so I can't vouch first hand) - but many well tuned RX-1's are neck and neck with 06 Apex's.

I can't explain it since the RX-1 has around 140 hp and the Apex has almost 150 hp, but there are many very fast RX-1's out there that are stock except for maybe a clutch kit that Apex's can't get past.

If you're RX-1 is a good runner, don't expect a new Apex or Attak to be much, if any faster.

What you will find with the Apex/Attak is the riding position is much nicer if you're an aggressive rider and the throttle response is incredible compared to the RX-1.

If your RX-1 is an 03 or 04 you'll also find the ride much better (with an 05, once the suspension is setup with the right springs/valving the ride can be excellent).

On the downside you will burn quite a bit more fuel with the Apex/Attak and with the slightly smaller usable tank capacity your fuel range will be down a good 20-25%. The exhaust note is also a little louder on the Apex/Attak.

The Apex/Attak is a much nicer sled to ride due to the throttle response, rider position, handling, etc. - but top speed is a wash IMO.

Thanks. This is what I wanted. A good honest assessment. I know the ride is much better on the attak and the one I test drove had amazing throttle response compared to my rx, but it was so different that I could not tell if it was faster or not. I'm not sure if it is worth the money to trade up now or wait till the 09's and see if there is more HP added on.

One thing I thought I should bring up is I'm really talking about a stock or close to stock Apex/Attak. I don't have any experience with how they respond to modifications and its possible with some work an Apex/Attak could wake up (My RTX runs so well and the rpms are spot on what everyone tunes for. Since its 100% stock I doubt there is as much clutching improvement available as the RX-1 had from stock).

Maybe someone can give an honest appraisal of how much performance improvement can be had and what was needed.

rex is spot on....the attak clutching once the motor is broken in leaves very little on the table...

my guess on the performance / mileage dilema is the efi isnt that great...seems to burn rich (i.e. the poor fuel economy and similar peformance with supposedly less horsepower)....very fat indeed

there is a lot to be had on an attak in suspension efficiency....the track alone is a real drag...look up some of the posts from machzed's rtx...very informative...the missing mileage and performance for the attak will arrive when( supposedly) shortly that power commander unit comes out....it'll be a different story IMHO

attak

i have both sleds, rx with filters clutch kit timing advanced, my attak has a clutch it, they are very close one day rx wins the next attak, but the ride
is much better on the attak.

Thanks dog. This is what I wanted to find out. Probably best to hang on to the rx for one more year and see what yammie has for 09. Just curious though, which machine comes off the line faster. This is a great site. Keep up the fantasic work.

my cousin has an 04 warrior he clucthed it last year and my attak was stock and he was'nt even in the same zip code as me.SJ, power commander would be nice even though mine does'nt skip a beat you can run your finger in the tailpipe and it comes out black, don't know if that means it's running fat or not

hvy black soot is carbon deposits which equal's a rich mixture.....I feel there's a lot more to be had with this machine through tuning in the fuel system!

my 04 warrior, lightly clutched with 108 studs, that's it.it ran a best of 113mph on ice.my bud's 06 apex gt clutched much better than mine and 96 studs,he ran a best of 115mph in same conditions, that,s only 2 mph diff, dont worry, you can run with an attack with a well tuned rx1,in fact that same day another friend on a stock 03 rx1 ran 118 mph,all he did was lower the sled and 96 studs.that rx1 is real fast compared to other ones weve tried, not sure why

My very well tuned old RX-1 (pre turbo) ran best of 119 on radar in 1/2 mile. Best on my Apex RTX is 123, same distance. Im not sure comparing top end numbers is really what you want so I will add this. In a drag race, equal states of tune, equal traction, equal rider weight...etc...the Apex and Attak will really put it on a RX-1...BBY
