rx1 vs srx

Stock for Stock its very close but the RX1 will eventually run down the SRX. My old SRX was a very strong runner and would beat most RX1-s out there but there was lots done to it. The biggest downfall with a stock SRX are stock clutching and the stock track. Clutch the SRX and put on a Camoplast 9830 and you would be amazed. Its intersting because the 03 RX-1s had the same downfalls, but we all know how they run with proper clutching and traction. I miss my SRX, IMO it was the best handeling sled ever built (groomed trail). The SRX is a legend...BBY

My 03 RX-1 with top secret clutching ran side by side with buddies ported 98 SRX. Could not be much closer. He also weighs about 40 pounds less too!

In a drag race "standing start" My Rx-1 with the Expert X rear skid I have eats any SRX around. In my opinion the biggest downfall to any Yamaha in a drag race is the rear suspention. The Pro action transfores like dog #*$&@. If a guy puts 5 to 6 sleds on you in the first 60 feet you are never going to catch him.

Matt and I did some side by side running in the UP with our RX-1's in 2003. He would always pull away form me on the big end. I had heavy hitters and Matt helped me change my clutching over for the daltons so we were running almost Identical clutching. His sled was still a smidge fast on top but we agreed It was my fat #*$&@ slowwing me down. he went from really pulling away on to to just bairley creeping away. I would have like to race from a stand still to prove the advantage of the Expert X. That's a differnt kind of race. It eliminates the rear skid from the equation.

The first weekend I had My RX-1 on the snow I went to a airport in Northern Michigan to break it in and test some Clutching I got from Dalton industries. A guy with a super good running SRX came over to be our comparision sled. There was only 4 inches of snow on the grass runways so we had a dirt starting line so traction was pretty equal. With the stock clutching on the RX-1 it wasn't even close. He'd kill me every time. I'm talking 5 to 6 sleds in 5 to 6 hundred feet. I then switched to the dalton clutching. I went form a 5 to 6 sled dog to a 5 to 6 sled winner in the same distance.

SRX-RX1

When both sleds were stock, I raced my 2003 rx1 (fully broken in with 1700 miles on it) and my 2001 SRX. Both sleds had 192 studs. I raced my cousin who weighs about 25lbs less than me, we switched multiple times and the RX-1 was consistantly faster out of the hole through topend.

My 2001 700 SRX was a rocket, against my Warrior from a dead stop even steven. But at WOT my SRX pulled away, from a roll say 30mph I leave my SRX but again at top end he goes on bye. Looking forward to a new set up this fall on my Warrior, which should help quite a bit for the way we drive. ;)! 8) I to miss my blue rocket and the sound of those triple pipes singing their magical song. :(

Last year with studs and stock clutching on my 03 shortie, my buddies 780 Magapower SRX got me on top end in 1500' pretty easily. This year with the 136 Ripsaw, Heavy Hitters, ECP kit and a few other things I never saw him in front. What a difference. Still needs more hook-up.
