Guys,
Still fine tuning my suspension. I had the shock rebuilt this fall & a new rear spring put on it. I put the suspension back together & it still sags as bad as ever.
If I lift all the weight off then gently set it on the floor the shock measures 10 7/8". Then sitting on it it goes to about 9 1/2". Then when you get off it only returns to just under 10". (200 lb load).
As far as the way it sits (see pics attached) the mudflap sits only 5" off the floor unloaded, 4" loaded. My rear bumper is 20". How far off the ground is your mudflat & bumper?
You can't back up without catching the flap, this just can't be right but I don't know what to do next.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Bob

Bob, first things first, if you replaced spring back to oem spring with the weight off of the skid the spring should measure 278 mm. or just over 10 and 15/16ths. The spring with you sitting on the sled with your riding gear on should be 40 to 45mm. less, or about 1 1/2 inches to 1 3/4 inches . One inch at the flap is not a lot of sag. The suspension will not return to fully extended length, it will return from the compressed height but still have some set in in it. As for backing over the flap i know you could cut an inch or two off the bottom or put a wire stiffener under it. But when backing up if the skis dig in at all or the snow is deep enough you will back over the flap. The torque of the engine will compress the suspension.

- 2016 RS Vector XTX 1.25 Lug wifes..2013 RS Vector LTX.. 2003 600 VMax Past Machines 3-2007 Attaks 1-2010 Vector LTX.. sorry no Stinkdoos or poo's cats.
You can get the rear height up by turning the collar nut on the shock up. The flap catching is typical of these machines. You have to cut along the line etched into the flap just below Yamaha name. It looks fine after cutting. I had to do this to our 2010 Vector LTX and 2 07 Attaks.

I measure 5 inches to the mudflap when the flap is held vertical, and 20 inches to the bumper. And that is with new Hyfax. So I would say you are in the ballpark.

Should do adjustments with a full tank of fuel 60+lbs ,fully geared up,.and +- whatever approx you may have in saddle bags if you carry.then there will always be ice build up..mine is set up on the stiffer side, but i have a customized shock.
