Need help. Over the weekend I broke thru the ice on my lake in 3 feet of water and once I got it out the electronics were working until I tried turning the key and then all electronics went dead. Does anybody know what I can do to try to fix my sled? Did short out a fuse wreck anything to their engine? etc..
Thanks
Thanks

Don't run it until you drain the engine and gear oil. Pull the spark plugs and the check the air box for water, before you try to turn the engine over. More than likely you blew a fuse when you tried to start it. Move the sled in a garage and put a dehumidafier and a fan blowing on the sled with the plastics removed. Let it sit for a few days to dry out. If the water was over the top of the gas tank, you will have to pull it and dump it out. You may want to unpug the ecu and the relays and use compressed air and blow out the water from them, and let them dry.

Yes all that plus you may want to use di electric grease at every connection possible. You want to make sure it is all dried up before attempting to start it again.
How far up the sled was the water?

I sank my phazer in about 3 feet of water last season.I did everything berge says above^^ but make sure you pull your plugs and turn the engine over to get any water out of the cylinders before you try to start it. No problems since, good luck!

I should have clarified... the above was kidding around. He posted this on the 2 stroke side and I referred him here. I did that because I know there are so many guys here with valuable input. So sorry for not expressing myself right (damn electronic communication!) and all I was doing was trying to help the guy out, and hopefully get a new TY4 member to our great community here in the process.

Been there.
Time is critical now. When this happened to me and I asked "what do I do?" the only reply I got was "sell it!".
I didn't.
As was already posted here, get it dry. Tip it, roll it, heat it, and rip it apart. I recommend flushing chaincase and engine with back to back, almost immediate oil changes. Get yourself a few cans of electrical contact cleaner ( the kind that will disperse moisture). And as posted, some di-electric grease. In my opinion, the best way to heat up and dry out the engine compartment, is to get it running. But don't even try it until it is as drained as possible.
Good luck, I sunk mine almost 10,000 miles ago and, although it has a few querks, it's still awesome!

My bad SuperSled. After posting, the thought crossed my mind maybe you knew the guy and were joking or whatever. And wasnt try to question your knowledge or expertise.
Way too many members here are ready to jump say "use the search" "been talked about many times, search it yourself", etc etc..rather than actually contributing something productive to somebody who is looking for a quick answer. If you dont want to answer the question someone asks, then save yourself the keystrokes and let someone else give an answer. Ever try using the search feature?? It's good if you like weeding through about 100 other posts to find what you're looking for sometimes. Sometimes it does work good though, depending what you're looking for.
All good

Is there a product out there that you can use to flush the oil system with? Oil is a bit expensive to be changing it back to back.

Best of luck!
No such thing that i'm aware of. But honestly, you cannot sink a sled without incurring some expenses! EVERYTHING you do to get it back in order now is an investment to hopefully avoid future problems!yamahas said:Is there a product out there that you can use to flush the oil system with? Use some cheaper 5w30 and add 1 ATF to it. Run the sled for 5 minutes to circulate to oil and then change it out. ATF seems to help clean out the system.
