What seems to work best, ski scratchers or ice scratchers that mount on rails? I have storys of rail mounted scratchers getting caught in tracks, not sure if its true or not. Just wondering what everyone likes to use.

I ran rail mounted ice scratchers all last season on my apex and vector mtn. no problems at all.

Seen these at the Boise Idaho show going to pick up a set I think they would do much better than the ones on the rail http://www.hartmaninc.com/scratchers.html

I'm going to try this for this season. Glare ice is not my concern, just the extra long skid on trails.

Crewcheif use a thicker cable I found the ones I used dont put enough down pressure to keep them from bouncing around and beating the bottom of my skid plate. They do work but need to be a bit thicker or stiffer and also a guy could just flare the end of the cable to throw snow up.

I used to have the scratchers mounted on the rails, worked well. But went to Hyperfax, wow what a difference. I've been in low snow conditions with seemingly no wear now and no scratchers.
