Guys,
I noticed a bit of oil burning at the end of last season and this season (about 1 qt / 600 miles). I bought some SeaFoam to try out but the instructions on the can for using it in the oil are a bit unclear. Will the SeaFoam work the same way if I pour the can into the gas tank? Otherwise, if I put it in the oil....what do you do?
Who has done this and how did you do it? Did it fix the problem or should I not even bother?
Thanks,
RXW

I use it in both the oil and the fuel, I put in 1 can per tank of fuel and about 6oz in oil.

Best to be done just before changeing oil . after putting seafoam in run about 100 miles and change oil + filter . Best to do before each oil change .

I agree. If you put it in the oil, do it about 100 miles before you change the oil and filter. If you put it in the gas, follow the directions on the can. I believe one can per tank of fuel is fairly heavy. I used to use a couple ounces per tank of fuel.
I have used Seafoam in the oil before an oil change. You will not believe how black (from Carbon) that oil will get.
Lately, I have just been using a couple ounces of RingFree in the gas/per tank. That seems to keep it from burning oil and the exhaust tips are always free of carbon.

Seafoam cleans the carbon from inside the engine. You are interested mostly in the carbon that forms on the Piston Rings, which leads to excessive oil consumption. Putting it in the oil gets at the bottom side. Putting it in the gas gets at the top side. It also cleans the carbs of deposits that build up. It will not clean contamination and debris from the fuel system, though.
You can get it an most auto parts stores.

Thanks Len....how much SeaFoam did you add to the oil tank. I'm doing a ride this weekend and plan on adding some 1/2 way through the last day of riding (about 100 miles). I don't want to add too much.

Take care to not over fill. You may have to take some oil out, if you are lucky. I think I used 1/2 of the container in the oil and the 1/2 in the gas. But, ... I think there are instructions on the container. Double check them. It has been a while since I did this. Since, I have been "maintaining" the cleanliness with RingFree, I Hope.
