Well, it's another snowmobile season and my attempt to document it through video episodes begins now with the first one of the winter. Thanks to Tom for allowing me to post the thread in this higher traffic forum, and thanks to those of you who send positive messages my way to motivate me to keep the season's rolling. I also appreciate winning (in part) last season's mileage contest. I'll show off the prize I won in a later episode.

Let's get things rollin' - happy sledding to everybody and cheers to a great season ahead!

Ahh, the season has begun! Welcome back YK!! We missed your vids! I actually went out and looked at some of your summer stuff. Looked like you had a good summer!

Keep up the great work! Love it.

Great vid. Btw you can control the go pro from your phone app now

The one I'm using is the Hero2. Which gopro does the phone work with? This camera isn't fitting my needs, but it's better than nothing. I've yet to buckle down and invest in my own. This one is Greg's.

The next episode is up!

2013 Snowmobile Season: Episode Two

"Did you come from the Arctic Cat Dealer?"

Allan, a GoPro Hero2 can have wifi to connect to a phone or remote using the wifi backpack. I have Hero3 White now. It's size is the primary advantage plus the wifi is built in. There have been hiccups with the firmware but its working now. FYI connecting to phone is useful for composition or monitoring live feeds but does NOT allow you to view the already recorded media via the phone (bummer).

Thanks guys!

It's the software I'm using. So a 22 minute file, if I convert it to upload to youtube in full quality (as the software says) is 800 mb in size. We have internet upload/download restrictions and my internet cap either way is 20 gig. I could probably get away with uploading a file that size if it doesn't time out first. The files I upload now are about 80 mb, and they take 40 minutes.

All that said, i've got a new computer set to arrive in the coming days. Right now i'm editing on 7 year old software and a 7 year old computer, I'm shooting in HD with one camera at 1920x1080 60fps and then the gopro at 1080i. The old software and PC can't even play those files they are so huge, so I have to convert them first down to mpeg2 at a size that my PC can actually handle.

The new computer will be able to handle all raw video files, no more converting (will save me a lot of time) and I'm hoping new software that I chose will just allow me to upload directly to youtube from it and select a better quality without making a huge video file to upload.

Make sense?

Yep...internet caps SUCK!! finally found a provider with NO caps....now im on Apple TV all night (how i watch your vids)...I now use about 10 GB a DAY

Allen, I can't thank you and your riding buds enough for making these very fun to watch fids................. And the gal there is very special to hang out and take all the bad with the good... What a great sport... Looking forward to the next adventure......... Go out there and have a blast... Considering we have had a total snow fall this year of 10".MM.
