Excellent review of a fine sled. We had one member in our group to Michigan last month with a switchback 800 with the Walker Evans shock package. It was a great ride for him, he was loving it in most conditions.

Are you still considering the polaris with the viper xtxse out now, or are you going to try the yamie first?

first things first, I need to see all 4 manufacturers 2014 line-ups.
After that, i'll be asking a lot of questions. The likely-hood of me laying down a deposit for a spring order is 50/50 i'd say, but on what, who knows - it may be nothing!

Hey allen, maybe yammie will let you try a new viper for the season.... After all if it can take a full season with you it will be a fantastic sled. MM

LOL well, if an opportunity came along to do that, I would jump on it without thinking twice. I actually put a proposal into YMC regarding this sort of thing recently, but nowhere near a 'free sled for a year' type of deal. Unfortunately it isn't that easy to make happen but I'm hopeful there's some way I can continue to contribute to YMC's product development.

just keep pushing them cause that would be great marketing for them. just put a poll up to see how many people believe you should get a sled for being a guinea pig lol

haha I won't stop anyone else from running a poll to that effect but I'm sure everyone on the planet would like the opportunity as well so it best not come from me ;-)
You have my vote. What has your buddy with the Bearcat said about it though?

Nice post on Chris's blog. Very true and fair.
Maybe the dealer could switch the shocks from your future SR Viper XTX SE with the ones on the regular SR Viper. HPG should be cheaper then Foax Float 2 after all.

He didn't say much. Greg's not a techy brand discussion type of guy, he just gets on things and rides and breaks them lol

I've spent a LOT of time talking to both Yamaha dealers and Yamaha directly about the shock concern, as well as making the skid coupled in the XTX if I find it too un-trail friendly. Bottom line, we'll see what happens if I'm on a new 'anything' next November, there are no guarantee's either way.
Apologies for the delay, lots going on lately (that doesn't involve snowmobiles unfortunately) but here's the next episode;
2013 Snowmobile Season: Episode Six HD 720P

Great video as usual.
What is it that you have attached to your barrels? I thought it was some sort of sling attachment, but could not quite tell.
Keep up the great work on the vids!

Could you really switch brands after the genesis 4 stroke being so reliable? Before the viper was revealed you said that you loved your nytro but the handling wasnt up to par. Now that its in a great handling chassis whats not to want?

just a surgical glove to keep snow from entering the barrel. You just shoot through the glove, no need to mess around with it! Snow in a barrel is dangerous!

That's a good question that I'm going to mull over for the next several months. There's more to that in upcoming video's. Cheers.

I see you bought the fox zero pro rer shock for your xtx, very nice. Hope it holds up for you. Question for you though. What year was the last shock that you blew out made? It should be printed on the label. I heard the design of the shock body was beefed up in 2011.
