I have a 2006 attak and I noticed that the ramps on the secondary clutch were shot. While replacing those I also noticed that the one of the plates on the secondary clutch was warped. I straighten it in a press as best I could and run the sled for the year with no issues. Should I continue to run this way or should I replace it? There are little stress cracks on the plate. If I replace it are there after market ones of these? Does anyone have a used one? Looking for thoughts on this.

I would replace that clutch. Have you ever seen the damage one of those does if it grenades? That is an ugly warp in that sheave, must be hard on the primary also. Can easily find a good used one from someone on the site as there are many sleds being parted out.

Casting cracks are normal but I would want my leg-foot down there at 90 mph if the secondary decides its had enough. I would think something got stuck in there vs warping.

Just tell him you can lose body parts doing that kind of thing....sounds like something my son would do with his buddies as helpers.

You should replace it and hand you son the bill (at least that what I would do).

One time long ago my oldest daughter had a little mishap with the car. There was no other car involved and nobody was hurt, just her pride. I told her she had to pay for the repairs and estimated them at $300 (very low estimate on my part, but high enough to prove a point). I never had the car fixed and when she went off to school I told her that the $300 was back in her account. The point is they do need to be held accountable, but you don't have to make it unbearable. She did agonize over having to pay me, but I never told her about getting the money back until she went off to school about year later after the accident.
