Anyone ever have secondary damage on the aluminum on the backside of the buttons? I was looking my sled over getting ready for asphalt and noticed the aluminum on the back side of each button on the secondary was cracked. I checked the spring which was fine, and clearances without the spring were fine. There wasn't any binding or contact that I could find. I'll have pictures of it this evening.

I believe I noticed this on mine too, but upon further inspection, they apear to be non-threatening. It seems that most of the cast aluminum pieces on these sleds look cracked at first glance, but are structurally sound.

However, I will have to re-check mine come fall now.

Does it look like this is about to happen?

One other post was cracked. This one was broken.

The new parts and installation cost almost $700 (was halfway through a sledding trip and didn't have any option)

Easy fix. Put a roller conversion on it. It will work better that the buttons too. I would say talk to Maxximum but they are no longer there so try Pioneer and talk to Bruce.

This happened to Neon phil and his buddy Arts secondary's as well.

Call bob At Lightning Pro he can setup you secondary as a roller that uses OEM style helixs.

anyone know the cause if it? The buttons don't show any damage. Here's the pics...

WOW .....looks like some more problems showing up

I feel bad for you guys, I have a Mnt. max with a #*$&@ load of miles and never have had any issue's with it at ALL ! Seems like more and more things are showing up as people start putting more miles on there sleds, hopefully this isn't a Yamaha problem and is isolated, time will tell ! I wouldn't jump to any conclusions just yet. Are all these brakes on boosted sleds or stock ?

My guess would be too much HP. LaLaLa Thats why I think a roller unit will help you improve the transfer of HP to the track. ;)! I am using a Rocker RollerII on my Rage, but I ran out of snow to finish my testing.

I'm not running anything crazy for hp. Just a supercharger at 7lbs. Lots of turbo guys running big numbers without any problems.

I'm just going to use another stock secondary that I have. What's to say a roller wouldn't be affected in the same way, taking out a bearing or another casting?

My drivetrain is 100% stock but did run an Ulmer Stage 3 clutch kit for a few 1000 miles as well as a set of CR10EK spark plugs for a few 1000 miles more than the clutch kit (part of last season and part of this season).

There are a few other threads on these secondary failures (identical failure).

I noticed the new secondary looks like it has more metal where the old one broke (I didn't measure anything to make sure certain though).
