I bought a new Yamaha 8DN belt last night - $90 CAN. Put it on and it ran a little above the secondary (with no adjustments). I'm going to return the Dayco HPX ($54 CAN) that I bought as a spare. The other belt (old spare) that I had tried looks to be a Dayco UltraMax with the smooth top that rode to low in the secondary for the day that it was on.
With the new belt I was able to pull 110MPH (Speedo) on the trail (fairly windy) and briefly hit 116 before I had to shut her down on the road last night. Sled is running a little better at 10,500 RPM (+/-100) now.
Just to clarify - The washer trick won't harm anything? and the secondary spring is at 1-6 (70degrees)? I'm running Matt's/ECP clutch/filter kit.

glad to hear the yami belt worked for ya!! sorry bout the price :cry:. those washers wont hurt a thing. 60 or 70 on the twist will work just fine.
