Anybody remember any of Yamahas first year releases? As I had 3 Phazers I remember that one the best. Yamaha quality right?

This one could get you killed,
October 16, 2007
Yamaha is rcalling its 2007 model year PZ50 snowmobiles. Snow and ice stuck around the steering idler arm can cause a loss of steering ability, posing a risk of injury and death to drivers and passengers.

This recall involves all model year 2007 PZ50 snowmobiles, including PZ50W (Phazer), PZ50FXW (Phazer FX), PZ50GTW (Phazer GT), PZ50MW (Phazer Mountain Lite), and PZ50VTW (Venture Lite) model snowmobiles.

The snowmobiles were sold by Yamaha dealers nationwide from June 2006 through September 2007 for between $7,000 and $8,000. They were made in Japan.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled snowmobiles and contact an authorized Yamaha snowmobile dealer in their area to schedule a free repair. Registered owners were sent direct mail notification of this recall.

Consumer Contact: For additional information and to locate a Yamaha snowmobile dealer, contact Yamaha at (800) 962-7926, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, or visit the firm’s Web site at www.yamaha-motor.com.

The recall is being conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)

These were interesting, note the steering nut retorque.

1. Is for the air intake silencer, it deverts snow away from the area TSB number is 090 UE.
2.Elevation Kit TSB number 93 ACM
3.Steering nut re-torque TSB number 9900 42Y.
4.Rear side panel build up of ice TSB number S08-030*
5.Hard starting in cold temperatures TSB S08-027*

And of course the loose motor mount, tunnel block off and add a fan updates.

Sooooo............was the ALL Yamaha phazer a better first year release than the Viper?

True, there is some validity to your statement, however keep in mind, the Viper chassis was arguably a 3 year old chassis with a 7 year old engine.

Agreed, I had hoped to point out that as annoying as warranty work is there are different levels of that at least in my mind. And comapring these the Viper does not look so bad for a first year sled.

But is it really a three year old chassis, perhaps to some degree. Changes were made to the existing chassis that cat had already produced.

I bought a new RX-1 in 2005. My first ever Yamaha after riding cats for 17 years. After the first year they replaced the rear shock, rail supports and RA cable. The starter relay froze and ruined my starter . In 1500 miles I replaced the front arm bushings. And you know what, I didn't' cry about it. I rode that sled 9500 miles and it was one of the best sleds I ever had. My Viper just turned 2400 miles and I LOVE it!!! The absolute most comfortable sled I have ever ridden. ZERO problems. But if I didn't own one I still wouldn't be on here bitching about them.

Yes the procross chassis is technically a 3 year old chassis but it was redesigned to accept the 1049cc engine and as more us ltx guys, this is the first year for the 137" skid. In my opinion, the ltx and ltx se models are more the less a "new" sled in the aspect that it's the first year that this engine and skid have been tied together in a chassis that was tweaked and tuned to accept both. And like many others, I have 2100+ miles with zero issues, I did blow out a shock..no big deal, it happens to every other sled on the trails. I love the sled and will own it for many years

Or maybe you just have #*$&@ luck. Seems to me like there are 3-4 guys on here that have had some bad luck and they are by far the most vocal which is pretty normal. Sucks to spend that much money and have problems for sure. I think if parts availability were better in the occurrence of a break down people would be more satisfied. Winter is to short to have to wait for a week or more for the machine to be repaired I agree. I also think some of the issues are being blown way out of proportion but that too seems to be the norm in this day and age.
