New member so hopefully placing this in the correct area.
07 Attak GT, dicovered a cracked Y pipe, I've got all bolts removed and both components are free but they are stuck together where the clamp connects them. Does anyone have any techniques to seperate the Y pipe from the muffler? I am not able to remove the muffler and the pipes while they are connected together to try and seperate them. It has to be done from underneath the tunnel and I really don't want to beat on anything that hard with a hammer. Any ideas out there??? Thanks!

Rubber mallet and a 2x4 is how i had to remove mine the first time. A helper is very useful to ensure that when removing the exhaust, to make sure the muffler does not hang up on anything. Also inspect the muffler section(x/cross tube part) where the 2 exhaust pipes join each other under the seat. As 6 months after I replaced y pipes the muffler broke there and I had to get it welded.

I just did mine if you hit the mid-pipe bracket where you took the bolts out and do one at a time they come out of muffler easier. I found a flange repair kit on line that I just installed for $80 , don't have to weld if you don't want to they go on tight. He is making kit now for 2011 up apex said their $2000. To replace thru Yamaha ouch! This may be the way to go for that

Just did mine. With the Y pipe bolts still tight tap the muffler with a rubber mallet. Keep tapping and it will come off. I bet you've got it done already as I type.
