Has anyone heard any more on updateing the shifting on an 07 to make it smother. My dealer said he had nothing in his paper work from yamaha. right now the best way for me is to turn it off then shift. oyher wise it won't go in gear reverse or high if it does it might grind. I can not allways move it that little bit to get it to shift. Or does it just need some adjustment?

I have an 07 (brand new this week) and am very disappointed with the shifting. it is hard to believe Yamaha could put out a machine with such an obvious design flaw in the gear box, when the rest of the fit, finish, and operation is top notch. One way to shift it is to turn off the motor, open the hood, and rotate the primary clutch by hand, but that is a major P.I.T.A.

I have a 07 since a month ago and have 650 km on the odo. My dealer told me that the gears were changed to 08 gerbox spec when a bought it.
The shifting is smoooooth, no problems so far.

I'm still getting used to my '08 VK and the shifting is generally smooth. It sticks a bit when I need to get into reverse while stopped on a hill so I discovered that if I use the brake just before coming to a stop, hold the break lever on while turning the shift lever and easing off on the brake, it shifts very easily. It might be worth a try. If already stopped and it doesn't want to shift I held the brake on slightly and tapped the throttle to jump ahead just an inch or two...still holding the brake. Then turn the shifter while letting off the brake.

There is a new updated trans gear for the shifting problem , had mine done and made a big differnce in shifting, I can actually shift between lo and reverse now and not have to fiddle with trying to get the gears to mesh, also had the new stronger reinforced rear suspension arms changed, dealer told me it was a recall, now if they could do something with the fuel gauge, mine shows empty and I still have almost half tank left. ANyone else have same issue? not a big deal I guess but when you pay 15 grand for a machine you would expect everything to be a least a little accurate, dealer says no fix .

riley.l DO you think you could get the recall numbers from your dealer for the suspension and the trans gear the dealer up here does not have anything on either greatly appriciated

I have found that on my buddy's sled that if the rpm does not come all the way back to idle it will not shift. Soon as the idle drops down it will shift fine. For some reason the idle speed is hang up.

I had the same problem with the gas guage on my 06. My dealer was able to adjust the float in the tank some how and it's better now. The light does't go on until I have about 2 gallons left now.
