Shimming valves, does EPS come off?

I'm checking the valves and potentially shimming then on my dad's '16 vector. I'm at the point where the only thing between me and the valve cover is the EPS motor and steering subframe. Just unbolting the EPS motor doesn't look like it would give me enough room as there is a crossbar of the steering subframe right above it. I can't figure out any other way other than take the whole steering subframe off, which looks like a crap load more work. Before I fully commit am I missing something?

Should I support the belly of the sled when I loosen that subframe? It looks like that subframe is in compression as the forces from the skis and tunnel push up. Or am I overthinking that?

No reason to support it. The chassis itself is strong enough.
