Looking for advice on who to go with for rebuilding my shocks. I know there are alot of places out there. Reputation, quality and trustworthiness are something i believe in. Anybody dealt with Goodwin Performance?
Your main ones that people will reply with are Hygear, Pioneer, and Carver. Theses seem to be the big three but I think Scmidtt Bros does it too.

I had my shocks done by Schmidt bros then had tehm rebuilt a few years later by Pioneer. Pioneer told me that my shocks(that had been rebuilt by SBM) had different parts in them indicating that when they were rebuilt they didn't actually replace all the parts. Needless to day I was a little pissed.

You said that pioneer told you they had different parts in there , so that's a indication that they didn't replace any parts
I was at there shop and he showed me what they did to my shocks , they write down everything in a book , only thing they do is change the shim stack ( washer stack ) so yes it will be different then stock !

What I am saying is I paid for a rebuild on both shocks and it appeared as if only one of the shocks had been rebuilt. One shock had the stock parts still while the other did not. I guess one of the shocks looked like it was still in good shape. I paid for both to be replaces regardless.

How could someone tell the difference , maybe they use all stock seals in the shocks , there is no way they would charge you for something they didn't do , I know them very well and they are straight up guys , I think pioneer is blowing smoke up your azz to be honest .

shock rebuild does mean replacing all the parts of your shock. it is a service of your shock which includes changing shock fluid, recharge of nitrogen if applicable, and replacement of worn or damaged parts (usually seals or bushings if required). if a re-valve is done each company you send to does their own special thing as far as mods to achieve their own specific desired results.
basically a rebuild is just service.......if it was a replacement of all parts it would be much closer to the price of a new shock..
just my 2 cents

don't kill the messenger dude...I don't know why Pioneer would just come out and say that. He simply told me it looked like the shocks had already been serviced before because there were different parts in each shock(the wording may have been different but something like that). Not knowing anything about shocks I asked him why the parts would be different and he told me that it was probably because not all parts were exchanged for new ones.
