Tis the season for updates and upgrades...

I've pulled the rear shocks off of my 07 FX and am looking to get them revalved for my weight (190 lbs) and my riding style (stutters and big bumps)

My question is this, what do I tell the guy about the stock Phazer Valving?

I'm guessing the center shock has to bulked up while the rear shock needs to have the rebound slowed down.

Am I right or way off base?

That sounds about right. Depends on who is doing your rebuild for what you tell them. Best thing to do is basically describe what you just said with your weight. I would suggest using Hygear as they have the rear end figured out.

Shocks

Pioneer Performance is anoter one to contact and talk with about your shocks......

I had my phazer FX shocks done at pioneer over the summer, I called and talked to him briefly and he has some seat time on the phazer so he knows what is good and bad about it. He changed the internal piston and valve stack in the shocks. He says it will make it alot more progressive or hopefully softer through the stutters and not bottom out through the big hits, while reducing the kickback felt by the bumps after you go over them. Can't wait to try it out and look for the difference this winter. I have heard many guys talk to Ross and Hygear and he explained things for 30 minutes on the phone, and supposedly his setup for the phazer is awesome. I have heard nothing but good things about Hygear and have had only great experiences at pioneer.

the shocks need a progressive stack. that are pretty much a a blow off valve when strock. also the bleed groves need to be slight increased. a front track shock spring off a fusion makes a big diff too. its like a 130/210 multi rate spring and then stock phazer is a 180 staright. i had my boss do mine and change the spring and now i ride one click up from the softest setting and its perfect for 98% of the bumps i hit. hes also alot cheeper then most other places too. only like 45 a shock. hes done a few other phazer too with good results.
