Should I stretch my shorty to a 136?

I have to replace my track at the end of the year. What would it take to stretch it out to a 136" from a 121"?

of course the track and the tunel ext and rail ext. also need to relocate the skid or it will bind and cause problems with the geometry i have not done it myself but many have im sure someone will chime in with what all it take and how hard it will be.

I've ridden both back to back and preferred the 136. The Apex puts down too much powa for a 121.

why just a 136? I went from a 121 to a 144 and will never look back.
I ride mostly in Vermont and mostly trails. I would like to have a little more stability and an option for minor off trail. A 144" would be overkill for here, I think.

Can anyone confirm this? Isn't the Monoshock the same with the exception of the rails?

No the position of the upper cross member is a couple inches farther back. I don't have the exact measurements but I had researched this before I bought my current Attak. I was going to buy a shorty and stretch it next year. Yes there is a rail extension kit from tracksusa but talking to different folks IMO it would have been a better option to get a 136 mono skid and have the tunnel bolt holes and supports relocated. Otherwise with the rail extension alone I have heard complaints of track tension and harsher ride in the rear.

I had an 06 GT that I stretched to 136, and 80% of the time it was great. You need to adjust your suspension cause of the extra push in the corners. Better in the bumps, straight always, and sweeping turns, but in the twist and turns it took everything I had to keep up,with my buddy's and their 800 or 1200 Doo's. I was drenched in sweat moving that extra tank in the twists at higher speeds. I did it, but that hot tub felt better later lol

Muffinworks also makes a 136 extension that is tipped up.

Do you run studs? I ride VT as well and for the NEK trails you ride I think your will like 136.

What track are you getting? I'd recommend a Cobra or Ripsaw 2.

Agreed

Stretched my 02 Viper. It was terrible in the twisties. Took alot of time getting the suspension setup to turn in the corners.

The extensions mess up the geometry of the suspension. I would get 136 rails, the rear arm, rear skid mounts, rear shaft and wheels, and a tunnel extension from one of the advertisers here that part out sleds.
You would then have a factory 136 setup which is very easy to tune.

I do run studs. If I leave it as a shorty I am looking at the Ice Ripper, but will now also research the 2 you mentioned.
I ride out of Saint Johnsbury and prefer the twisty trails more than the wide open stuff. Maybe the 136 isn't the right option.
What about a 128 from the new sleds?

128" is a minor difference. If you ride tight twisties I'd leave it 121.

If you could find a deal on a ZX2 skid it would turn your 121 into a nice ride. That with a cobra track would be a sweet setup.

I stretched my 07 rtx to a 136 and never moved anything and I never had any problems but I also had the anti ratchet drivers. It rode nice and cornered very good. The apex needs a 136 minimum, to much power even for the 128 in my opinion.

i went to a 136 from a 121 on my o6 vector. track usa extensions and tunnel. didn't effect anything imo for handling. you need to run your track alot looser to make up the difference when your suspention is squished or your track will get rubber band tight and bind. Extrovert drivers are a must. Your track will also come past your heat exchanger tube in the back of your sled and with studs it will rip it it half. Had a close call with mine before i extended my tunnels protectors. be sides that its a minor change lol. World of difference on the big tanks getting more on the ground, and alot more float, would never go back.
