Does anyone on here know what kind of motor is in the JD 825 ,friend of mine is looking at one but don't want it if it has a Chinese built engine."

"Motor is built by Chery International......of china. So yeah, Chinese built motor. Inline 3 cylinder 50hp. I wouldn't buy one or the rsx.

Wish Deere stuck with Kawasaki motors in side x sides. Good rule of thumb with their riding lawn mowers is to only buy ones with Kawasaki engines."

Thanks for the info....I won't be buying one either, another guy nearby bought one of those Chrionex (CFmoto powered) total piece of junk and they don't stand behind there product either. You wouldn't believe the problems he has with it,it's only a year old with less than 1500 miles and the motor has went down 4 times warranty fixed it twice he fixed it once ,its down again and he's done with it.

The John Deere XUV625 has the Kawasaki engine. But it's slow. A great farm machine but lousy if you were to plan on using it for trail fun.

I work on a farm and we have 3 of those 625s with the Kawasaki. Good rigs and never any motor problems. Perfect for farm work and yeah kinda slow.

Rhino all the way. First there are so many aftermarket options if you ever want to go that route it is crazy(not as many as there used to be).

If you want the 50mph speed do the overdrive sheave(it removes a spacer that stops the primary from fully closing) it does not change the pulling power or low speed operation.

Other useful mods include winch with front receiver (great for backing in trailers).

Also if you are going to work it hard look at the tires as when I bought my 2011 Rhino 700 it only had 4 ply tires that worked okay but when sport riding had a lot of sidewall flex/roll as they were not radial. A good set is either the terra cross or the big horns(you can get these in the 12" diameter to use the stock rims) Also on tires if you are primarily working with it or driving mud/dirt with rocks stay with the 12" rims as the taller sidewall helps to prevent rim damage.

If you are really going to pull with it lots over time think about the wet clutch slug kit. I have done this and the difference even just plowing snow is amazing.

All I can say from experience is one friend 10000kms with original belt towing his boat to back lakes(original tires only oil and such at regular service intervals), another with 5600kms on original belt with overdrive sheeve towing boat and hauling wood, and mine has 3000kms of plowing hauling wood and mudding( I have snorkel kit, ricochet skit plates, yamaha nerf bars and bumpers all around with winch and front receiver)

All I can say is tough(or as some commercials say "Real World Tough")
can you show me the shim that limiting the primary to fully close ? i have the same rhino too !
