Sidewinder travel cover

In your picture, what brand hand guards do you have?
--Yamaha oem whit AC extension they are really big

How would the cover fit with a lower SE window and hand guards?
--It's extensible on the top of the cover

Do you think I would need a TALL WINDOW cover to have more room for guards?
--Not it all

Or does the cover change heights for diff window sizes?
-- I think they only have one size fit all and they do!

thanks for pic.

Cheers

okay Dan, in my relatively short time here I have noticed you like lots of pics lol. so I took a few different angles for you.
First pic shows the stock SE window, ROX handguards and Yamaha accessory mountain strap.

This next pic shows my dirty #*$&@ cover installed on the sled, you can see the windshield and mountain strap locations.
IMG_1770 (2).JPG
Here we have a side photo, here you can notice the strap, window and handguards if you look for them.
IMG_1771 (2).JPG
This next phot I am pulling up and the cover to show how it stretches, if you look at the pics you wil see the area by the handguards is a different color and material it is very soft a stretchy to contour each application.
IMG_1772 (2).JPG
The last pic I have here is a side view from further back to show overall fitment. in addition to the other accessories I have a Yamaha expandable tunnel bag on under the cover as well. oh and my sled had a mountain seat on it.

Wow this is great! I appreciate you taking the time with all these pics and great info.

So it sure looks like they now take into account, window size and hand guards, not like the old days when I last owned a cover(maybe 05 or so) and I think that was before hand guards got popular and I believe they used to make diff covers for diff window heights.

Ok, so let me ask this....are ALL the YAM covers like this? Or is there only certain model covers that have these features?

Anyone know who sells them at a good price? Is there any aftermarket companies or strictly a YAM thing?

Dan

Well I know this is the premium and all premium versions should come this way. I think many brands are going this route. My own 12 Polaris cover was the same way. I will see what I can find for a brand other than Yamaha on a tag after work tonight

I have a parts unlimited cover and it has the same feature. my 12 apex cover is like that too. whatever cover you get I would recommend you get the pre-cover as well because if there is any slack it will flap in the breeze and cause scratches.

I hear ya there...but all those early years when I had open trailers and covers, I always use a large micro fleece blanket over entire sled first, then cover it, so the cover itself never touched sled finish.

Its been since around 99 I think since I had a cover, as Ive gone to covered trailer for near 20 yrs now. But Im going to be grabbing an alum ramp for more quick weekend trips as the winters seem to be moving further north from my area. Grrrr.

Speaking of that, anyone use alum ramps with their winder? Buddy has a nice ramp but he has a lighter POO Assault, but im sure it will be fine with the winder.

Port, can you verify that these deluxe covers have the extra adjustment to fit LE and SE and even taller windows? I looked up the deluxe cover on yam site and it does not say anything about having extra room for tall window/and hand guards. I notice the cat site does talk about their covers and how they adjust.

I just dont want to buy something online without seeing it, as I need it to fit with my gaurds and window.

If you happen to have any real pics showing the window area that would be great.

thanks
Dan

Whenever theres an odd bunch (lol) I haul 3, usually someone elses sled, in the bed. It stays clean UNLESS you see stuff on the windshield, like road spray. My other truck has a turbowing on the roof, and it all blows over the box and really don't need a cover...the low pressure area in the box sucks it up. But best to have a cover if you travel the interstates a lot.
I won't put a cover on after some tug hill mud bogging though...
no sense getting that filthy too!

All the Yamaha deluxe and custom covers (except Touring 2-up and Utility sled covers) have a self adjusting Lycra expanding windshield panel that will adjust to optional windshield heights to provide a snug, clean fit. See the attached photos to kind of get an idea of what it looks like and how it works - these covers will accomodate all the way up to the tall windshield used on the Sidewinder DX models which is in the bottom photo.

Thanks VERY MUCH Port! Really looks good.

It sure looks like with this expandable section, the hand guards will have plenty of leeway to fit in without being too tight against them. Fantastic.

I will order one from you off the ebay ad!
