Simmons or SLP????

rbhme i have the precision dule tunnel skis from ski-doo and love them, have over 4,000 miles on them. Problem 1 now i have a bad ski via a large rock from jackman trails this weekend ouch, just screwing around to fast w/buds my fault,ok still have bad ski,but w/two carbides, one very bent,i have to be able to buy two in a pair,to get one if i can even do this,i just installed these from christmas day,my sister ownes a ski-doo shop and got them for me,came 4 per box,$120.00 retail oouch, thats only a small problem, now the spindle oouch $200.00 and i have never taken this apart before, does anyone know if there is an alignment tool i need to send thru the spindles to align things back up?

ouch!!!!! those trails are rough but some how have managed to get 380 miles on the new warrior, although have to say that it is tough to get used to the skis sticking so far out from the shroud when trying to weave through the trees to get around water holes, wacked a couple myself but thank god a very slow speed. My buddy kept laughing at me when i would whack a tree. at lunch he said you are riding in front of me today, i need the laugh back here. He could hear me swearing over his sled.... I am really good at trees with a dirt bike......

skis

Well I just wanted to let you fellows know that if you want a set of precision skis, you could probably get a good deal if you go to the dootalk site, it seems that the boys on the revs would rather have an aggressive single keel ski like the ones that come on the 440 racing sled. I have an 03 Rx1 and I still run the stock skis , late last winter I bought an Ohlin's shock for the back of my shorty from Pioneer performance, they set it up with a lighter spring then the ohlins you get from other sources, my sled doesn't dart, and handles realy well, I have made other changes and would enjoy comparing sleds with other owners in Maine(763-3566)WHEN THE SNOW SHOWS UP

03 with Max Per. front springs, 12mm sway bar, longer links, MPI stage 3 136 kit, 9834 1.25 track , ohlins rear, and some clutch mods (coming soon) an ohlins for the front of the skid, and Rx1 Mountain handlebars.

I have the Precisions too and they work great. Improved tracking, cornering and better flotation. Far above stock handling.

I used the existing mounting hardware that came with the skis as the mounting kit, I did not purchase an after market set for Yamaha.

Just got back from a 600+ mile ride on my RX-1 with a new set of Simmons Flexi-Skis installed. The skis will dart. I was always the lead sled and under the hardpack conditions we faced, the skis did dart. I also noticed it required a little more effort to steer the sled, but it was hard to tell for sure since this was my first ride of the season.

With that said, I really liked the skis because I believe they eliminated my inside ski lift issue. They widen the stance by about 2.5 inches making the sled more sturdy. When we reached snow covered trails, there was no darting. Overall, I liked the skis much better than the stockers.

With a dual runner ski, the ski alignment (toe) need to be set to 0".

If the skis are not realigned it may still dart some, as the stock spec. is 0mm - 15mm toe out.

I live in The Forks/ the riding here would be about the same as you have/Last year I put a set of the 4" Dooley's on my Rexy and it made a vast difference/ It didn't take ALL the hunting out /about 95% of it/I've bought a set and will probably put them on the Warrior in a couple weeks/I'm still tweaking the ride and this sled handles much better than the Rexy/ Although I've already purchased the Woody's I just wanted to see if I could adjust the sled to the point that I didn't really need them/ Just a thought/ a set of Dooley's will run around a$100.00/ if your happy you've saved a bunch of money/if your not/ take them off Imediately and sell them at a reduced price to re-coup the bulk of your cost then go to another ski/ Note on changing skis/ If you tour ride alot you might be better off with the Doo skis as the runners would be easier to find if you were out riding and lost or broke one/ later

rbhme

rbhme,

I ride aggressive and have the Simmons on my rx-1 shorty that I am real happy with. I have SLP SLTs on a SRX and C&A's on a Viper. My bud has the SLP powders on his shorty and I don't think they are the right setup for that sled, I feel they are too aggressive and make the sled a little too edgey. Of all these ski's I believe the Simmon's dart the least. I run my Simmons with 6 inch inner carbides and 4 inch outer. I think they the are less aggressive than the stock ski's and the others which actually helps the sleds handling. I think that the sled has so much weight on the ski's that a little push in the corners takes away some of the tippiness.

Simmon's all they way.

Simmons

Just note for all you sledheads. You can get carbides that fit the Simmons from Bergstrom, USI (Shaper Bars) and and Bottomline. The best ones hands down are the ones from Scotty Bergstrom. Get one set of his 6" triple carbides and put them on the insides. You'll be hookin like a pro on the corner of 2nd and Main

well just sprung $$$$$$ for the precision skis and the adapter.... Just snowed last night a little so might try to head north to try them out this week. God I hope it is what I am looking for. I will check the alignment today to make sure it is at 0 to ensure prooper straightline.

Thanks to every one for your advice and feedback!!!!!

rode on sunday with the new precision skis. :D WOW, they make a HUGE difference. so much lighter of a feel. Not perfect but it is 100 % stock so now just a little tweaking the front preload and limitier straps should really make this thing wake up around the corners. Also got 17.5 mpg with the NGK9EK and new skis. Normally got 15 to 16 but usually 15. So not sure if the change was from plugs or the skis but wow was I happy to see 17 mpg!!!! 8) So if you have not switched from the stock ski , definately change it is worth the money!!!!

THANK YOU to all the people who gave feed back!!!
