I have an 05 Rx1 and am putting simmons on with 6" and 4" carbides, which is the best bigger on the inside or on the outside thanks.

Always put the biggest and best on the inside. You will be very happy with that setup.

OUTSIDE for the 6". I have found that the greater wear to mine was definitely on the outside and I have tried them all different ways. I have had the skis for 4 years....trust me I have found out from practice!!

I agree with Mighty, I have the 6 incher's all the way around and it flat out performs better with them. when I first swapped these ski's from my 02 Viper I had 4 incher's on them and that was not enough for me, I am 240 pounds before I am dressed to ride. Anyway I decided to just put the 6 inchers on the outside and all though it was better, it still did not grab the corners like I wanted it to. I then finally decided to put the 6's all the way around and what an improvement. I will never not have these all the way around again. If you go to the website and watch how this ski moves in the clip, you will notice that not all the wearbar is on the ground when turning, that is when I decided to put the 6's on all of them. Heavy sled + heavy rider = more carbide on the ground for me. I buy my bar's from my dealer because they also sell Arctic Crap and they make the bars for the Simmons, I think I paid $60.00 for 4 6 inch bar's, and it is worth the extra $10.00 from getting the 4 incher's. Either way, your going to love these ski's, I will buy another set if I sell these with this sled. :D

I asked this question of val simmons the manufacturer of the skis and this is the response. Hi Dave,
As a general rule I prefer the longer carbide on the inside for maximum turning effect. However the RX1 is a different situation. It has a lot more ski pressure up front and most owners I have talked with prefer putting them on the outside as it helps the RX1 track better on super hard pack conditions.

Thanks, Val

If bottomline is making them for AC then why did mine come in a AC vacuum wrapped pkg ? they may be making them but AC is selling them.

Yes you are right about that. Bottomline does a whole lot of OEM sales to other vendors.

they are making them right, I put 1500 miles on mine last year and they look brand new. I usually have to replace them every year but these held up to a whole lot of lake racing.
:D

I have had some problems with carbides coming right out of the wearbars and the hard bar coming out as well. I have told Val about it and from there we'll see how it goes. But I have not been to happy with past performance but I think I got them when they first came out also and bought 2 sets of cutters 8 runners total :ORC so who knows!!
