Congrats Jeff
I hope you dominate Haydays with that bad boy. Tell us about the Chassis, who driving the sled...etc...BBY

sled is owned and driving by john wheelock owner of proline. the sled is designed from a clean sheet of paper, (not a re fit for the rx-1 engine) the engine is part of the chassics structual design and sits extremely looooow in the chassic, it has a gear drive instead of a chaincase, the track has a straight line from the drives to the rear idler wheels and is a long track, so traction will be excellent. their as so many trick things about the open mod chassic that the sled is first class to say the least, we will be producing turn key rx-1 open mod sleds for around 25,000.00 complete. all you have to do is find someone sick enough to want to drive it. lol.
anyone interested in one of these should contact me asap, we are going to be building a run of chassics soon, and it takes some time for us to build the engine and customize the turbo. 1-414-698-6611 jeff

Oh I had the impression from the posts all over the WEB this was a trail sled. The discription you just gave of the sled is awsome. It sounds like a bad mofo. I bet it runs low 8's to high 7's with that kind of setup.
Congrats to Jonh Wheelock for building a kick #*$&@ Open Mod
Thanks Jason

jtssrx, the sled was built for the open mod class, it can also run heavy mod. but that has nothing to do with the fact that this new turbo charger/ engine package will be in my trail sled. i am targeting it for lake racing on race fuel, then turn down the boost and go trail riding.

SIMONS CPR: Like I said JEFF I was under the impression from reading your posts that it was a trail sled.

Jeff,
Based on the classes that it runs in, I hope it runs below a 4.2's in the grass. That seems to be the time to beat...
Not sure about the MPH, but who cares!!!
Also, if you ever run that style engine as a/your trail sled, keep us up to date on how it's doing.
I'm sure one of us will join the 'BIG-HP Turbo Club' hmmm.... sounds like a sticker to me... 8)

Would it be possible to (or make sense to) put a twin turbo setup on an RX-1? What I mean is a RX-1 equpped with a front AND rear mounted turbo.
I would guess one can make plenty of power from one turbo for this application but there's always someone wanting something even more insane. PB

I'f I were to guess I think you'd want them located right next to eachother and I'm assuming you'd run 2 pipes to one and 2 to the other. One turbo makes more then enough power.

Actually, that would give you an output of about 450 HP. This is going off the initial dyno they ran on a stock RX-1 that had 137 HP x 4. His four times the output of the Trail version as I understand is four times the increase the trail turbo put out above stock HP which was 55 HP. So the mod turbo would give you aprox 220 HP above the stock #s (Total hp = 350 -360).

Haydays run
Any idea about what time it will run each day? I'd like to see it burn down the track!

i think the open mod turbo will run early on sat, first is heavy mod, then open mod, and again on sun if things go well
. john has not driven the sled yet, but i talked to him today and they have everything ready for testing, i hope it doesn't rain so they can get some tuning done this weekend, its going to take some time to get that power down to the ground, and i hope all our hard work pays off
. right now its just a production trail turbo kit with a bigger turbo, and engine mods, it still is fitted for and will bolt right in a stock rx-1 chassic. if your guess was 350 hp, you guessed right. i am currently working on a strictly open mod header design, (it won't fit a stock rx-1 chassic), an even bigger turbo, and a few other things, to take full advantage of the mod chassic. once this is perfected we will start dyno developing our twin turbos, i don't think i'll be satisfied until i know how much horsepower it takes to split apart a rx-1 bottom end. lol, boy i love my job!!!
jeff

btw, for those who i may have confused about the two sleds were talking about, the full bodied rx-1 is what i think will run a low 8 at 170+ mph. the mod proline chassic will only run 500 ft on grass. in a full quarter mile on asphalt, it would probably be high 7's. jeff
