My boss will sell me his 6.9 for around 150.00. I would need to get zx rubbers for them to work and add a second carbide to the ski. Or my boss is a dealer for Simmons and I can get the gen 3's for cost plus shipping so so around $350.00-$375.00. I would be putting them on my VL, looking for more flotation with decent trail handling. Buy the time I get the 6.9 set up with rubbers and 2 more carbides I'm going to be pushing 200.00. Are the Gen 3's worth 150.00 to 175.00 more? It seems like Yamaha owners like the Pilots.

Can't tell you about Gen 3's, but I have a set of Gen 2's, I put on when I go out west and boy do they float! Not bad on the trail, but not my first choice for trail riding, will float sometimes in the corners, if the snow conditions are just right. If you like to take corners hard, I think I would try the pilots. IMO

I woudl think the Pilot 6.9 skis would be much better on trail than the Simmons. The Pilots will have light steering effort even on a hard packed trails. However they push a bit in deeper snow. They should float well off trail but dont steer the sharpest in deep snow. Look at the ski bottoms of the Pilots before you buy them. The Pilot skis are made out of a softer plastic and can get torn up pretty good depending how they were used. Cant say much more about the Simmons.

Had simmons gen 1 skis on my nytro for a while. They worked well but gave my arms a workout. Switched to 6.9 pilots. I prefer the pilots. If you need a skag or need to replace a ski you can get parts at the local ski doo dealer.
