Since this has been beat to death so many times, and this Nytro body style has been out for a little while now. I figured we could take a true poll from all you trail riders on what ski's you use now. I am sure there has been plenty of testing. There are lot's of opinions out there, but the proof should hopefully be in the numbers. So let's see where the numbers end up ;)!

:rocks:

Better runners on the stock skis were a lot easier and a LOT less expensive than new skis and runners. Maybe not quite as good, but close enough for trail riding. Wig

I currently have the USI X2's on my XTX. I reserve to make a judgement call right now. I just picked up the sled two weeks ago and rode it only with the USI's. I haven't ran the stock skis yet. So I can't compare. What I can say is with the USI's the steering seems very stiff. They track great though. Zero push in the corners. But are so stiff it is hard to react to bumps in the corners. Above 40 mph the sled feels very planted. Below 40 mph the sled wants to hunt and dart slightly. I ran the USI's on my '07 Attak. They worked great. Easy steering and tracked great. Almost zero darting. Next season I plan on running stock skis with Rotein dual carbides on the XTX.

Didn't even try the stock skis, had little success with the stockers on my Vector.

Started the year off with Slydogs, then 6.9 Pilots and the C&A Outlaws.

Outlaws win by far.

You forgot to put Yamaha MTX skis in the poll, so i had to vote other.
I was riding yesterday in conditions like Alatalo mentioned erlier. Great ski!!!

Thank you! That is the type of input I wasing looking for. If it is other please specify. I tried to list most of the major players in the trail ski market. I might of missed one or two. Thanks

I had no problems on the trail with the stock ski and 6" carbides. I did pick up a set of yami mtx's for the deep stuff but ran out of snow before I could try them.

EsonPZ, what are you using for carbides?

C&A XTX

I am running the C&A XTX Skis and I am very happy. They track well and are 7 1/4" wide so they help flotation. They also have more ski on the snow front of the spindle, essentially lengthening the wheel base which helps the stability of the sled. These skis are the same ski as the race ski with a cut down center keel (1" vs 1.5").

Now the question is (and no bashing), Have you tried a different ski on your Nytro that is on the list, and switched to another? If so what to what and why. Was it the ski, or the type of riding? For example some people say they don't like a paticular ski cause it is to agressive for them. So was it the purchase of the wrong type of ski for the rider, or just a ski that wouldn't do what it was advertised to do? A lot of buy aggressive aftermarket parts thinking they are racers, and they don't work out, and vice versa. Buy a wimpy item thinking you are just a regular trail rider. Keeping in mind that suspension changes would or should of been made with the change in ski's, to match their proposed style. This with some number will help us understand more. Since we all seem to promote an item just because it is on our sled, and we are happy with it. Not knowing if there is something that could even be better for our paticular style out there.

:rocks: Home work at it's finest ;)!

After setting my sled up "properly" I felt the stock skis worked really well - or I just adapted to them. Either way I felt confident with them in everything but powder. But I'll probably go with a set of Simmons Gen I skis when the stockers are worn out or I move them to my Phazer.

I liked the Precision skis (Simmons knock-offs) on my '05 REV and think they would be good on the Nytro too. Those old Precision skis were especially good on a setup trail. I like the slightly wider stance they provide and heavy steering does not bother me as long as the sled goes where I point it.

I put a set of 6" Woody's carbides on my stockers and have been quite impressed with the way they've performed! Probably gonna put on a set of MTX skis for next winter to gain a little flotation!
