I have a 06 rs rage. I have studded the track with 108 picks. How do i get more ski pressure. It doesn't turn well in the corners. It wants to slide instead of turning.

Running stock. Was thinking of shaper bar or the bergstrom

Definately get newer and more aggressive carbides.

The stock carbid will have to go . I would not make any other adjustments untill you do that. I went with the 7.5 shappers and 144 studs. I would also think about the berstroms .
What is the stock carbide 4"? I think i am going to go with the shaper bar. Have heard better results from them.

I think the stock is 4 inch. I went with the shaper bars because I read a article on them and thought they would work a little better, But I would have gone with the berstorm triples if cost was not a factor

The triples are but the others are the same and guys say they last twice as long, But what I liked about the stud boy shapers is the price and the shape and the weight.sxr-600 said:yes the bergstroms are expensive

You can reduce the transfer to keep more weight on the skis during acceleration and when powering out of a turn or shorten the limiter strap to add more overall ski pressure. Whatever you do make small adjustments and one adjustment at a time.

While the Bergstrom's do cost more, they last a lot longer so the price is competitive in the long run.

I keep hearing this. Mine were/are pretty shot looking after one season. The side carbides are 100%, but the center one is well worn.
My friends just swap them every year. How do I evalulate if they are still good or not?

After one weekend of riding your carbides need to be sharpened, unless you have not been on any pavement or low snow. I have tried them all and they all get dull quick when riding in Michigan. I made a 800 mile trip in canada with new carbides and studs at the start of the trip. Never once hit low snow or pavement. After the trip (800 Miles) I inspected my carbides and studs, they looked like new. For carbides to work good on icy corners they need to be sharp. I have to laugh when some one inspects their carbides that they have been running all year and state that they look good. There maybe carbide left, but so dull you could'nt cut warm butter with them. They have to be sharp to work good on ice and we have alot of icy trails in Michigan.
