Hi all! I am looking for a ski upgrade for my 08 Vec LTX GT. Been doing much reading about Simmons, Slydog and USI. My goal is two fold, great cornering on trail with minimal dart and great floatation offtrail. I do about a 60/40 split trail to off. One post caught my eye but I can find it again. Yamaha Mountain skis with shapers or triple points. Anyone running the Yamaha Mountain ski on your LTX's? How are they? Thanks in advance.

Don't forget Curves. I'm trying them this year.

I have an 06 Vector GT, stretched to 136". I ran Simmons Gen I skis last year and had great results.
The Simmons skis removed the horrible darting of the stock skis.
The Simmons skis also did very well off trail, they carry the weight of the 4-stroke a lot better than the narrow stock skis.

My wife has the same sled. I've ran Simmons Gen I on it as well as other sleds and love them. No darting, great flotation. You will need to take a bit of pressure off the front as they can be a little hard to steer. Also carbides are expensive.
I also ran slydog's on it for awhile last year. Cheaper ski with great handling. Very little darting (not as good as the Simmons but close) better cornering. Not as heavy duty of a ski and doesn't float quite as well as the Simmons. Carbides much cheaper.
The stock ski's with Woody's dualies and ski savers from Bergstrom are also a good set up for this sled. Not much for off trail though.
Good luck, If I had to pick which was the best set up for this sled with cost not being a consideration...Simmon's Gen I.

Man, I did a lot of old post reading on here looking at skis. I could not find a consensus on any brand ski. So I just ordered a set of Slydog Powder Hounds last week for my Rage. Good luck what ever you decide. G.B.

Running a 136" 06' Nytro here ... using SPL Powder Pros with 7" shaper bars. Great on and off the trail!

Curves
Page 66 of this issue of "Snowgoer Magazine" rated Curves 9.3 out of 10.
Personal Opinion: Curves are by far one of the best aftermarket investments one could make in the sport of snowmobiling.
They are the most accurate and predictable ski on the planet!
I wish I had found them sooner.
I won't leave home without a set of Curves.

These guys have designed an entire system for a sled to include ski rubbers, recommended runners, all the hardware, and one heck of a ski.
Hope this helps!

Thanks all! Leaning towrds Simmons due to floatation. We shall see.. Just wish Yamaha would have put a good ski on to begin with. Other than that, love the thing!

I've run most all of the aftermarket skis . For what you describe Slydog powder hounds make good sense. I do not recommend Yamy Mountain skis. I ran them last year on Attack GT. Too deep a keel IMHO. I have Powderhounds waiting for delivery of 09 Venture GT. Recommend Bergstrom triplepoint skags.
there is a set of ppd skis in the classifieds, mountain guys love them from what ive read. similar to the simmons. look to be built a little better. a little wider than the simmons and narrower than the wide simmons. 350 complete is a decent price, simmons will be more if you dont get a used set
