Apex Mountain Ski Swap on Attack

Who else used the Apex Mountain skis and how did you like them for overall use?
i had them on my attak last year and didnt care for them on this sled. heavy steering, darting and cornered like a 3 wheeler. they do kick #*$&@ off trail, but on trail i would get something else. they did work well on my viper though!

You're out numbered n2. Gotta be set-up. I'm gonna try them. I expected a direct bolt-on, but apparently not. more info on necessary mods please.

im a bit more finicky than most with what i expect out of skis. i did set them up correctly, they just didnt fit my style. same goes for c&a's. some people love them, i couldnt stand them.

Riding style makes a difference so does weight distribution. The ski used on the Apex mountain came out on the 05 RX mtn.
I put them on my 03 RX mtn....great in deep powder, darted on trails, impossible to drive in crusty snow. This sled was weight distributed forward.
The Apex has a light ski wieght in comparison. The ski steers easily, doesn't dart, works as good as can be expected in the crusties and sidehills like magic. In deep powder I don't steer at all. To go left
when standing I pressure my left foot back a hair pull right a tad on the bar and visa versa. The ski works more as a rudder...it feels very natural, similar to riding a streetbike. I don't really steer it rather I sort of glide sideways.
Same with sitting, but if I move my butt back a bit I will have a lighter stance on my skis and will carve a sharper turn.
Not sure if this helps you out or not. I feel suspension setup and body position play as big a role as the ski itself.

Finally got the Apex mountain ski put on the Attack this weekend. We were on everything from unplowed to plowed to groomed trails-off trail and these things worked real well for me. Tracking was as good as my Simmons I had on my RX1 last year-almost no darting--turn easier. Floatation was good-these things are wide. I put Bergstom Shims, Ski-Savers and 6 inch Triple Points on---great set up.

That is the set-up I have on My 06 Attak. Works great IMO.

Had em on my Attak and thought they looked like clown shoes. Sometimes style wins out over fuction in my book.

If you compare the keel of the Mnt Ski to the OEM, it's appears to be slightly less agressive in my eyes. So they should not give you any sharper steering than would the OEM's. But the width is why I like them for deeper snow. On hard pack you are just carrying around an extra 2lbs per ski with the Mnt's. I also tried several different skis on my Attak, the Slydogs felt easier to steer, almost pushy on the hard pack with 6" carbides, and I didn't like them at all in the deeper stuff. I suppose that I should try out a set of PowderHounds. They may what I like. :o| My Attak never felt excessively darty to me with any Ski I tried. With that said, I truly believe no ski is perfect for all conditions, especially in a rider foward chassis, they are just much more sensitive because of the extra Ski pressure. Has anyone rode a new F-Seriers Twin-Spar Chassis yet? Reports back from my buds indicate light steering but still very agressive. Wonder what AC is doing different?

Great setup

I have the same setup. I didn't get stuck in the deep stuff like a few of my buddies when we went off trail.

I still had a bit of darting, and found that it may be because I did not use the ski-savers. Scott from Bergstrom Skegs called me to ask what I though of my setup (great customer service!), and when I told him I still had a bit of darting, he sent me another set of ski-savers to put on, which he says should fix it. Anyhow, haven't gotten to ride this year yet, but I definitely like the setup.
