2014 viper rtx.

thought the front skid arm bushings were loose. were axle goes though and blots to rails

the ones I received are extremely tight? I had to press the bushing in to arm but axle would not go through on its own. after I got it all together by inserting axle in arm firstr then pressing bushing in

it is all very very tight

is this normal or am I missing something. I can believe it should be that tight. maybe I got some out of spec oem bushings

any thoughts?

These are the brass bushings in front skid arm im working on

I had the same issue. I ended up cracking the new bushings and had to reuse the old ones. It seemed like something was not right. 8JP-RA812-00-00 and
8JP-RA808-00-00 Both bushing locations seemed wrong, way to tight. The bushings were fine as far as ID and the shaft but after pressing them into the skid the shaft would not fit without pressing into the brass bushing. While pressing the shaft into the bushing the shaft hooked the bushing and broke the inside off. Had to remove the new bushing and reuse the old.

Ok thought i was doing something wrong. Im running into same exact issue.
But old ones are bad and cant be reused.

Now what
Are cat parts the same. I see they list same setup on there models but diff part numbers?

Those bushings need to be reamed or honed to size after install. Cat and Yamaha. Yes it’s odd. Been that way with Cat for long time though.

Odd. So should shaft slide through easily or do u install shaft in arm then press on bushings. Shaft im working with has a sight groove on ends. Not sure if wear or design

Thanks

What would i ream with. Like a dremmel tool?

Shaft should slide through easily. Some sandpaper in a slot cut in a wood dowel would work. You want to try to keep it round.

Seeam silly that i as m replacing bushings because loose but would have to ream out new ones to fit
Whats the grease fitting for. Its an aluminum shaft on brass bushings. Is grease really doing anything

Update picked up another set of bushings. I test fit on shaft and the fit perfect. So it must be when they press into arm. Gonna clean up inside of arm really well and maybe if sand out bushing a little. Must be press is compressing inside diameter to small

Yes that’s what happens. Very little needs to be removed.

Well not wanting to ruin bushing. I reamed arm with a step drill bit took off barley any material
They went in with a snug press and axle is snug tapped through with a rubber plastic mallet. I assume with some fresh grease and one ride they will free up nice.

I mean the whole point of this was they were sloppy.

Hope this is a certified install.

I wonder why i could not find any info on this in service manual as this is not a basic replacement.

I would think that it would be a very important note to make. I will be purchasing new bushings and reinstalling mine. I thought it was a case of the wrong part in the right bag when they did not fit.

Yea pretty crazy. I probs should do back as well but considering what i had to do for front. I just gonna leave. There not as bad as front was.
There is deff a tolerance manufacturing issue here. They fit pefect on axle. The minute u start pressing into arm. They collapse. I even pressed with axle in to hope to hold diameter. Within a 1/4 press axle was wedged.
Thats when i stopped and reamed out.

Next time i think i may just sand outer bushing surface maybe.

Its a close balance. Dont want to take to much off as then it will be loose in arm but any preasure causing it to shrink inner and make tight.

Great design lol
