Given all the improvements the newer sleds offer and the cost it would take to make significant improvement to the old one, wouldn't it be more cost effective and safer to buy a newer sled?

the vmax 4 worked real well with a proaction skid and you can pick one of them up real cheep .

You can upgrade the front springs in your cans also. You can do alot with a proaction long travel rear skid.
Put some adjustable transfer rods on it and sit them LOW. You will be able to lift that heavy dog right off the ground and make it much faster!

I swapped in a 97 SX skid into my 92 Vmax-4 and it has worked great. All you need is a stiffer front spring, and 1/4" spacers since the Vmax-4 tunnel is wider. You have to move the rear skid mounting brakets forward about 4" and redrill the other 4 holes.
