If I put the stock exhaust back on would my problem just go away ?

It would definitely help, but if you're hitting the rev limiter you're making more power. Mights well get it setup to use the extra power rather than choking it back up with the stock muffler.

I put a aftermarket can on mine and my rpms went way up so definitely making more power. I had a clutch kit with no tip weight so I added 3.5 grams to the tip. Worked well for a while till I put more miles on and getting motor broke in and making more power so rpms went back up so I added heavier rivets to the tip and not banging rev as much now.

It might for sometime....until you get more miles on and it breaks in more.....then it might come back.
You can change your secondary setting to 3-3 (#3 hole in the helix and # 3 hole in the secondary sheave where the spring end goes into) This will help a little for time being.

How many miles you did you have after you had to add more weight ? Just outta curiosity. . I have 2000 miles and finally have my sled set up decent .. just wondering if she'll gain more.power ..
What are other people experiencing? ?

Fully broken in? Hmmmmmm, 3,500 miles???
For me....Seemed like it goes in stages. 500 miles, you notice rpms starting to rise, 1000 miles and it seems to run smooth as ever, started to hit the rev limiter more and more. 2,500 miles the sled feels like a monster. I'm up to almost 5,000 miles now and the sled pulls even harder than ever. But, I have changed a lot of things since new and sleds with the same add-ons as me are pulling 10-11 horse less than I am on the dyno.

To me, once again.....I had to keep adding rivet weight the more I drove it and put miles on. Even switching to the gold bottle oil (full synthetic) I noticed more power.
2,000 miles, yes it will gain some.

Ok thanks I was just curious, it's definitely been a chore clutching it, maybe it will be good then I'm. Pushing 8650-9000 is top rpm maybe (pulls to 9 then drops and picks up again) it will climb a touch more. With the 1 3/4 track changing conditions make.it a nightmare. Kinda miss my ski doo clutch with the ease of adjusting the top rpm with the.turn of a couple. Dials. Haha

Also.i noticed on my set up I would bang the Rev limiter with the weight on the heel.if I. Added one.more.gram I would not bang off the Rev limiter but top rpm was about 8500-8600 so I took the extra.gram off the heel.and added it to the tip with 2 I rings sea. To. Have helped all around. No more banging rev limiter on take off and like I said. Some. Runs. Pulling 9000 rpm but it varies (need more testing) this was daves idea.as I'm running his turbo/clutch set up. But it seems.to be working! Fingers. Crossed
So ya just something else.to.think.about as far as clutching

BWW not for nothing have you tried changing the belt before you spend all the money on a clutch kit? Did the original owner have this problem? In my opinion 8JP belts are junk. My stock 14 after 500 miles on the belt would start to hit the rev-limiter and just got worse as the mileage piled up. Went through 3 belts in 2200 miles changed to the 8DN belt and never had a problem again and put 1800 miles on that belt.

8DN is the Apex Belt by it at any Yamaha dealer but the driven unit has to be adjusted for belt deflection. My sled was completely stock Just put a new 8JP belt on and try it see what happens. No money lost you well need a new belt sometime if the isn't the problem. 8JP is your stock belt if you have a spare try it.Apex 1958 where do I buy one of these belts 8DN and is your sled completely stock
