I need your opinion on the following modifcations for my 03 RX-1. My situation is the following which makes me reluctant to modify the sled. My average work week for the past 4 years is 77 hours per week (no BS, I keep track of my daily work hours, not including a 2 hour commute). I also trailer my sleds 5 hours to my riding destination which is northern New Hampshire and Maine. The combination of having way too much work and the long hauls to ride result in me only getting to ride 3 or if I am lucky 4 times a season, each trip being 3 to 4 days. I bought an ECP kit 2 years ago but have not put it on the sled. I am thinking about putting on a clutch kit. The problem I need to avoid is to have to spend many hours tuning the sled after putting these mods on. I don't want to have to spend the whole season making adjustments to get decent performance out of the sled. BlueByYou offered a clutch kit ( I think it was from Simons CPR) and Ullmer Racing offers a kit. I am just looking to wake the sled up and get a bit more performance. All of my riding is on groomed trails, mainly 200 - 300 mile days of cruising. Thanks for your help!!

You can bolt on the ECP kit along with their jetting & carb spring recomendations and be good to go. The clutch kits you'll have to talk to whoever you get them from, most will get you in the ball park off the shelf

The ECP kit and a little clutching will be the best improvement for oyur sled for the money. There ar emany guys on here that know their stuff. a couple of guys are running slightly modified stock clutching with the ECP kit and having good results. Matt (Bluebyyou) as well as Turk have helped me tons when it comes to that stuff

I have a 05 RX1 that I bought a complete kit from Ted Jennetty. Clutching, air box mod and jetting-carb springs. Put the stuff in the sled and never touched it after that. Totally different sled, runs hard and never missed a beat. At the end of the season, my rpms were a little high, I think my belt is wearing out, or the motor is breaking in a little more at around 2200 miles.
Good luck.

Jim,
Get in touch with me if you would like to take a look at mine sometime or need some help. Adjustments needed during the season is a non issue. Bob

Agree get complete kit from a well trusted vendor and bolt in and go. Have fun and take some time off to snowmobile!
