I just bought a set of slydog Race skis for my Nytro and i notice when installing the 6" carbibes, their not recessed into the front of the ski. I'm sure i must have the wrong ski rods because they seem like there going to hook into everything and even cause alot of drag on packed snow. Also i'm guessing the rubber boot goes biggest end towards the back ? Thanks for any info.

The rubber does go towards the back. The carbides I recieved with mine also sucked, because I had to bend the threaded rods to match the holes. Talk to whom ever you bought them from, maybe they gave you the wrong set.

I don't know the slydog ski's but do they have recess for the runner it sit into or are they like the c&a's where the carbide mounted below the keel? All last season with the c&a's I kept crossing my fingers every time I crossed railroad tracks or the like.

I did recieve the shaper bars, they do have a slight angle but it's going to be playing on my mind when crossing roads and bridges. So i assume the bigger rubber boot towards the back as it will tip the front of the ski slighty up ? Two people commented the oposite ?

I have the SD Race Skis as well. I got Bergstroms carbides though.

I would highly recommend at the very least, getting his "ski saver". They take the beating not your ski.

As to your question, as I recall my carbides sat outside the groove a bit too. But, when I tightened the nut, the carbide sucked right in.

Maybe you can post a pic so we can get a better idea what your running into.
