Why can I only find 3 threads about slydog skis on a viper (short threads at that)

So whats the scoop, I've read a ton about how great the Curves are,but not much on the Slydogs either way. Anyone try both?

I've got a 15 ltx se. I ride 95% trails. I don't want a ski that requires a bunch of steering effort.

Cannot comment on the Curves. But the SlyDogs, ran the 8" on my turbo Cat for the last 4 seasons. Its like putting snowshoes on the front , NO MORE submarineing . Waiting for the spring storms in Munising to try them out on the new LTX. They work quite well as a trail ski also, I think.

I have a new set of white Curve XS skis with new 4 inch carbides on them and a brand new set of 6 inch still in the pack for sale for $400 if interested
with stainless steel hardware

why are you not using them on your viper?

Probably the reason you're not seeing very many reviews for Slydogs is becasue is becasue most guys on TY are trail riders. Most of the guys that buy Slydogs use them for off-trail use not trail. I can think of 6 guys I ride with that have wide Slydogs and use them for back country riding and love them. Steering effort on the 8 inch wide is a non issue, my arms are never tired after a ride.

I'll chime in as well since I run 7" dogs in a mix of both trail and off trail on my LTX. Slydogs are an aggressive single keel ski, and as such, are prone to some darting in comparison to tuners on trail. Off trail, no issues with darting. On trail they turn as well as or better than tuners, even with the stock slydog 4" carbide. Even in loose snow, they turn. Steering effort is a little higher due to the aggressive keel, but when moving, you don't notice it. It's only a problem when you are stopped in packed snow. After riding both, I'll stick with the dogs and will tolerate the dart for the benefits they provide off trail, and their predictability on trail. I may try slimjims next year to see if it improves the dart. Slimjims for Curves will bolt right on.

I run the 7" dogs on my XTX, one buddy runs the trail version on his LTX, and Hellhounds on a 137 ZR. They turn great on the trail and in my experience they don't dart at all. If anything they push a little, but thats on my XTX riding real hard. I would recommend them to anybody for sure! A very light ski and you can pick from a variety of color combos.

I had the 7" Powder hounds on my 14 XTX and they were O.K. but did tend to push some in the corners.......really good off trail...........that was with std 6" shaper bars.......switched to Curve XS with Slim Jim Doolies and never looked back........rails around corners.......and still decent flotation off-trail......

Never thought to try the Doolies on the Slydogs........same bolt pattern............

I run the 8" slydogs on my XTX with 8inch bergstrom triple points and have almost no dart on trail. They are an aggressive ski but really cant tell one you get going, very predictable on trail with plenty of flotation off trail. I also just could see spending the big bucks for the curves.

Buddah, do you think its because of the Slim Jim Doolies vs the std 6" carbides?? Or actually the SKI making the difference?

Hard to say......wish I had had the presence of mind to try the bars on the Powderhounds while I still had them......but I didn't so..........I do know the skis seemed pretty comparable off-trail at least to me...........

Would you think "rails around corners" is due to curves or doolies?
