I did a 450 mile ride last weekend and snapped one the first day, the other the second day. They look pretty thin and cheap and seem like this will happen again. I've got some brand new Polaris straps that are much thicker and stronger. I was thinking of grinding off the strap guides on the top cross shaft and curing this problem once and for a all. Anyone else try this or just keep throwing Yammi straps at it. I've got only 1650 miles on the sled and do drag race a lot which I think is what snaps them. They break where the top bolt goes through.

Never broke em yet on the monoshock or the torsion spring (05 Vector), but I always have them pulled up from stock for less transfer and more front bite...but we break them all the time on the club Skandic groomers...we have them all the way out for max traction, and when the suspension unloads over a bump/log, etc., the extra distance seems to snap them once in a while. Snapped some doo F2000 chassis straps years ago too.

Pete i have 1450 miles on my 07 rtx,and knock on wood, this is not one of my problems with this sled yet,but sense you talked about it a couple weeks ago,i have been aware of it,and been keeping an eye on it,they do look a bit ragged though, but still in tact, and i have them in stock pos. number 3 hole which leaves alot of transfer, and although it does not hook up very well with my woodys 60 degree trail studs down the middle (96) only,it may bother if i did hook it up hard. Pete i like you have had alot of poos over the years, and they do have a much beefier straps, thats a great idea,it may just solve that problem,so pete you say you geared it back to 22 top for better trail performance, did you reclutch, reason i ask is when mine was all set up stock,it would overev to around 11,200 on the top end,and have you seen better top speeds now that its back stock geared? Mine is geared 23 top 38 bottom, and extra wheels on the back outside, with 96 woodys down the middle, but they are only 1.175 on the 1.25 ripsaw track,so it spins violently out of the hole, this is what my dealer did even though i asked for the 1.375 woodys, but other than that,it goes good in a straight line, but just is not as fast as my mono 06 apex was, best speed on so so ice was 112 gps on a bare track, now i was out on our lake a few days a go and the ice was soft/stiff with snow in patchs, and best i could get in 2000 ft or less was 109 gps running my supertip set up at 10,600 rpms,i did have my dalton set up on earlier running at 11,000 rpms but 107 was best, keep us posted Pete thanks Pete
when you bottom the sled out, the limiters are lined up with the drive cogs on either side, they drag by them close to the bolt and wear thin. my friends is close to breaking. havent fixed it yet but it looks like if you used a longer strap and looped it looser over the top so when the arm came down it would let the strap turn on the arm and move upward out of the way of the drive cogs. check it out to see if it will work.
this is not a known fix, just my observation of the problem so do this repair with that in mind.

I was checking the skid on the RS Venture after I came home from my last trip and noticed that 1 of the 2 limiter straps was snapped (throttle side). It snapped right below the washer that is under the top bolt. I went to order the straps from Yamaha and the fiche shows them on backorder. I also checked the availability of the straps for the 07 RTX and they are not on backorder. The numbers for the straps for both sleds are identicle except for 1 letter at the beginning of the part number. Seeing that the straps are on backorder for the RS Venture I would be interested in the poo straps if they are better or thicker. So Pete could you post some info on here about the poo straps that I can look at? Thanks Ronnie.

I can see why the Yammi straps are thinner now. They need to fit between the drive lugs on the track. The lower cross shaft is so close the the bottom of the suspension rail that the strap has to be narrow enough to squeeze between the lugs. What I did is narrowed the Polaris straps with scissors where they go around the bottom shaft so they would clear. I'll keep everyone posted how they hold up. Mine broke where they were bolted so I think this will hold up as it's full width there. The Polaris straps are almost twice as wide as the Yammi. I've never heard of a Poo strap breaking.

1900 miles on mine and i have 1 strap broken!
do not want to interfere with RS stories but.....
Did busted 4 straps in a row at the end-of-season last year...this was after 8000 Km of trouble free (strap related) event. To find out this fall during pre-season maintenance that my front shock had little or no rebound damping. New shocks in, no prob whatsoever for present (going soon to end) 5000 Km season. I would not be a happy camper either be beaten by the spring all the time. As for the unnoticed shock..... hey give me a break... let's say this was a slow going process that i was just about to figure.
